bigbroobs
i recently bought two atari systems and the one paddle controller is really jittery and moves from side to side even when i set down the controller what's up with that?
h.e.r.o
I had this very same problem when I had my paddles. It has to do with the potentiometer. Sometimes you can fix them by replacing the "pot" if you know what you're doing, but our Radio Shack never has the type we need. In digust, I finally threw them out. I have since been on the lookout for Atari paddles. It's a sad world.
liquid_sky
I have some old detachable pong controolers that are really jumpy.. they wear and tear worse than the atari paddles i think
Wntermute
Radio Shack has some potentiometer spray that might help SOME jumpy paddle problems. The only thing is, it's not labelled that way. You want to look for the spray that's supposed to fix old manual TV tuner dials (yeah.. the ancient ones)
King Asmo
You never need to replace the pot.. all you have to do is get a can of TV tuner spray, and spray into the pot a couple times and your paddles will work better than new. Ze_ro
For bad paddles, what I usually do is put in a game like Video Olympics or Breakout (Or any game where you can move something without starting a game), and just rotate the paddle for a few minutes. Eventually, it should get a little better, and you won't have to worry about taking it apart. --Zero
davidbrit2
If you don't have any tuner cleaner, WD-40 seems to work okay. Just yank off the black knob and squirt a little into the potentiometer. Wait a few seconds for it to sink in, then twist it around a little bit.
King Asmo
WD-40 is okay, but I've found that if you keep usign it, you'll eventually end up gumming up the paddles. Of course, if you only have one set of paddles, it probably isn't worth it to buy a can of tuner spray.
