While I despise shill bidding, I don't think someone should be sent to jail for it. No matter what, somebody was freely willing to bid in the ammount that they ended up paying.

 

Even if they did the old Second-Chance switcheroo, the buyer first had to make the original bid, then agree to the second chance offer.

Shill bidders should be jailed. What they are doing is commiting virtual fraud - placing auction bids on something they aren't trying to win and have no intention of paying for if they do, just to trick someone into outbidding them for an item they want. What's even worse is in specific cases like this one, the original seller's goods were FAKES, and he was using the interest generated by a lot of bids (having his accomplices shill bid for him) to fool buyers into thinking they were legit. Fraud, fraud, fraud. If this were a Quadrun or a NPC reproduction and you got shilled into overpaying for a fake you'd be made too.
