SteveW #1 Posted May 31, 2004 Have you seen the new commercial? With the midievil samurai trying to figure out a washing machine in a laundromat? It's pretty amusing. When he's about to put his underpants into the machine, he spots a rival samurai out the window..... They both reach for their swords.... There's a nice close-up of them eyeballing each other....... They had the picture of the new N-Gage model, the QD, at the end. The commercial was a lot better than the old ones. I don't know if the new model will make the N-Gage sell any better, but the commercials stand out more.
NintendoDieScreaming #2 Posted May 31, 2004 I have to admit, thats a pretty cool commercial. Man, the old N-Gage commercials blew! 'This is where I scored'. And then its a picture of a soccer game. HAHA HA! HEHHEHE! GET IT?! SCORE! HA HA! SCORE?! !!!! Those commercials blew.
Adrian M #3 Posted May 31, 2004 Yes, the new commercial is quite funny. I've already pre-ordered my N-Gage QD system, let's hope others do as well.
MegaManFan #4 Posted May 31, 2004 It is a better designed N-Gage, and the new commercial is very funny, but I still won't buy one.
ubersaurus #5 Posted May 31, 2004 I still want to pick up a taco style n-gage...
Jasoco #6 Posted June 1, 2004 Ditto MegaManFan. I do like the commercial. The first time I saw it I kept wondering what it was for. But I won't buy one. Not enough games to justify the price. Not that I like anyway. Plus, I don't need a phone unless it's Bluetooth Sony-Ericcson coolio type with neato features and is actually a phone.. that I won't even use anyway. So I need no phone. Maybe if they were to separate the game system from the phone and sell that watered down version, I'd buy one.. once again, when it hits $50. Sorry.. but even with Taito Memories and Bubble Bobble, I can't spend that much on a phone. GS already dropped the N-Gage. Funny thing is the other day they recieved their new promo material in the mail when I was there. Chris the head guy saw it and said "What the heck? We don't even have this anymore!" so he signed the release and turned around, "Hey, wanna close the store and have a party? The new N-Gage stuff is here." Everyone laughed. It was funny. And sad. Just like that Penny-Arcade commercial.

Jasoco #9 Posted June 1, 2004 Yes, it was extremely funny. Everyone on the store knew how much of a flop it was and found it rather funny. And I was glad to have been there at that moment to see it. Hell, I was there the day they disassembled the display too! Wow.. I must be lucky.

I guess there's a lesson to be learned here...the people who work at Gamestop are afraid of anything without the Sony or Nintendo brand name affixed to it. I'll be sure to steer clear of Gamestop stores going forward!
Jasoco #11 Posted June 1, 2004 Better add that to your "Things I hate" list.
Adrian M #12 Posted June 1, 2004 Better add that to your "Things I hate" list. Good idea! I'm not sure why so many game stores are run by clueless idiots nowadays. Another one of life's great mysteries I guess!
sigma #13 Posted June 1, 2004 Everyone laughed. It was funny. And sad. Just like that Penny-Arcade commercial. That's funny? Guess you had to be there... Hey kettle? This is Pot. Is there a way that you could not be so black for a while? Thanks! As for the N-Gage They're still in the gross minority. There are more than a few people who dig gay furry pr0n, but you'll never see it on Cartoon Network.
Jasoco #14 Posted June 1, 2004 Not really Clueless. They just don't like carrying things that make them lose extreme amounts of money. Apparently EB is either succeeding in selling the things or is hemorrhaging money because they are the only ones still carrying it.

Apparently EB is either succeeding in selling the things or is hemorrhaging money because they are the only ones still carrying it. To be honest with you, all of the Gamestops in my area still have N-Gage systems and games in stock. In fact, they even have the demo units out and functioning. Perhaps it's your particular Gamestop that's "losing extreme amounts of money" carrying them.
Jasoco #16 Posted June 1, 2004 Well, then it's the entire area. All the GameStops in my area, and believe me, there are quite a few, have dumped them. Hell, what surprises me is one of them has a Cube and Xbox, but no PS2 Kiosk. So they must have SOME taste!
shep #17 Posted June 1, 2004 Well, we all know all gaming stores are out to get consumers. Preventing them from experiencing anything without the Nintendo name on it. Just stear clear of such stores and buy more Microsoft and Nokia products!

That's not nearly as funny as two EB Games employees arguing with me last year in FRONT of a Sony rep about whether or not the system was a total piece of shit, and yes with that much profanity. Here she was trying to hand them promo materials for Sony products, while I'm trying to explain to the older guy of the two that the could drop the price to 5 cents and I still wouldn't want a crappy cell phone that doesn't do much for gameplay when I have a perfectly good cell phone and a perfectly good GBA SP. Then as a nod to the Sony rep standing there (or maybe a diss if you prefer) I said, "I'd sooner buy the PSP!"
