Taito - Superman

Recommended Posts

I played this one years ago on an actual machine, but the screen was so dark you could hardly tell what you were doing. I've since gotten it on MAME, and it's really a pretty decent beat-'em-up. I wish this version would've been ported to the Genesis instead of what it got (which I actually bought hoping it would be a port).

I didn't care for it at all. Rather short. Plus Superman can DIE from the stupidest thing! MAKES NO SENSE! It's like Aquaman drowning! STUPID. There are many other better games you can probably get for cheaper. Give me TMNT over Superman anyday!

I never played it although it was always at arcades. Actually I take that back.. I played it once I think. I kept wondering why superman can take damage from the people you're fighting against.

Basically it's a beat-em-up where you can hover around. It's two player as well I think and the other Superman wears red(?) It makes him look like Captain Marvel! :D

Just one of a series of games that help prove how difficult it is to translate the Man of Steel's adventures into a workable and suitable videogame experience. Though to its credit, the Taito arcade game did give us the short-lived return of the Superman Red/Superman Blue idea long before it was used with the equally short-lived "Man of Energy" version of Superman.
