joeybastard #1 Posted June 11, 2004 Is there a code or cheat I can enter to get the arcade DK in DK64 without going thru the whole game?

joeybastard #3 Posted June 11, 2004 Got a GameShark or Action Replay? No, I was hoping there was some kind of title screen controller combo like the old days.
bjk7382 #4 Posted June 11, 2004 Here is what is on IGN. Unlockable: Original Donkey Kong Game In the level in K.Rool's ship, Have D.K. learn the move of pulling a lever (from Cranky). Then go down the crates, left, up a rope (that's wooden), then follow the pipes to a room with a lever. You will see an arcade machine next to the lever. Pull the lever then the arcade machine will turn on. You are now playing the original Donkey Kong. Submitted by - Mike L. ()
Saikyo #5 Posted June 12, 2004 If I remember rightly there is a cheat code to get it straight away but I forget it and I no longer have my N64, Sorry.
Ze_ro #6 Posted June 12, 2004 I'm fairly certain there is no such code. Just play the game the old fashioned way and enjoy it. It's a pretty fun game, and it doesn't start to get frustrating until much later. Don't forget to unlock Jetpac while you're playing. It's a pretty fun game too. I always thought it was weird when people were more interested in the hidden Donkey Kong game than in Donkey Kong 64 itself --Zero
joeybastard #7 Posted June 12, 2004 Oh, I'm playing thru and enjoying DK64 but I suck at these kind of games. It'll take me 50 years to unlock DK that's why I was curious about a code. Thanks for the replies folks

()[/quote'] Actually you have to do a bit more to get the FULL game. If you just do it with those directions then 1) have to walk there in the 3D section 2) pull that lever but then 3) it's only one level of DK.. once he falls it's game over! You have to do something else (photograph a number of fairies? I forget...) to get DK available in the MENU so you don't have to go through the game. And then I believe you get the full game of Donkey Kong.
Paralistalon #9 Posted June 13, 2004 Pshaw, Jet Pac's the reason to own DK64!

Also doing this will give you an extra bonus (I forget what it is, banana?)
+kisrael #11 Posted June 15, 2004 Actually, I think DK64's saving grace is the Boss Battles, especially how you can then go back at play 'em on their own. Rare was very good about realizing those are some of the main attractions to any given game....I really wish Zelda and Metroid would follow suit. I really overplayed DK64 w/ a walkthrough back in the day...it actually had a noticeable effect on my visual processing for the evening after, cars passing me on the street seemed to recede to quickly, houses seemed "too tall"... Also doing this will give you an extra bonus (I forget what it is, banana?) That's right, when you first get to the arcade machine, you only get one life, and Pauline (?) is replaced with a coin that has the N64 logo on it (The Nintendo Coin, I think it's called). It's been a while, but I think it's only after you beat all four levels without dying that you win the Nintendo Coin (it'll show up with all your other booty), and the normal game will be playable from the main menu. The same thing goes for Jetpac I think, except you have to beat Cranky's high score (I forget what it is), and when you do, you get the "Rare Coin"... a coin with Rare's "R" logo on it. --Zero
