hobbsc
I thought I'd post this here as well to get the most exposure. Here is the first picture of the work in progress: http://hobbsc.sdf-us.org/images/whitebjl.jpg And here is the crosspost: I've replaced the power LED with a white LED, and I've used automotive pinstripes on the jag. I've also sanded the jaggy down and given it two more coats of paint (5 in total now), no blemishes this time!!! All that is left is to paint the power button silver and to apply a liberal coat of laquer over the whole thing (which I'm doing tonight). Pictures: http://hobbsc.sdf-us.org/images/stripe1.jpg http://hobbsc.sdf-us.org/images/stripe2.jpg http://hobbsc.sdf-us.org/images/light1.jpg http://hobbsc.sdf-us.org/images/light2.jpg Sorry they aren't links, I'm lazy. I also didn't display them as images so you wouldn't have to wait for 4 pictures to load.

SteveW
Are you going to be bringing that puppy to OKGE by any chance? I'd like to see it in real life.

hobbsc
@stevew: I'm not familiar with OKGE. got a link? @chris: I used krylon fusion paint and rustoleum lacquer. the krylon fusion says it doesn't need sanding or priming, but I sanded anyway just to be sure. I missed a spot on the bottom unfortunately, but nobody looks at the bottom anyhow
hobbsc
No white controller? -Tim Thanks for bringing it up! Now you've got me itching to paint a controller I might have enough paint left over to do that. I wonder if the useage would cause the paint to rub off of the controller. Certain
That looks really nice! Only thing that could be improved: without the Jag-Logo, there seems to be something missing (but it must be very hard to apply, i guess).
hobbsc
I've considered the jag logo, but I was having trouble painting it. I'm not a very good artist . My original plan was to paste in a jaguar logo from a bumper sticker, but the red didn't match the paint scheme. I could have outlined it and painted it silver (which I tried), but I kept botching it. Perhaps next time .

It's very hard indeed, I've done it, and I don't mind if I never have to do it again. Nice job by the way, like the stripe! Is that a stick-on vinyl strip? Or is it masked and sprayed? hobbsc
Its automotive pinstriping. It comes on a tacky strip, you peel off the back, lay it out, and then pull off the top clear portion. Its pretty easy to apply. I picked it up in the automotive section of Wal-Mart. Its the same stuff on the side of cars. I believe 3M makes it. hobbsc
Whoa! I likesy! How many hours did you spend on that little baby Thanks for the kind words . I probably spent a total of 6 hours. Most of it was waiting for paint to dry though . It was a pretty quick mod. The easiest parts were putting the white LED in, and pinstriping the side.
