HELP ! Yet another Trak ball question

My start buttons on my controllers break all the time, but unless you get a rebuilt stick, that's par for the course with the 5200.

 

My question is this.

I just got a Trak-ball. Can I start the game with the trak ball, then, mid-game, switch one of my controllers back in?

 

Not a great solution, I know, but at least it's something until I can get my hands on a WICO.

You probably can do that, but I personally don't like to pull the controllers out while the system is on.

 

BTW, I have a 5200 WICO listed in the marketplace forum, and I'm also an excellent source for rebuilt controllers too!

This may not work because the game can detect if a trackball or a normal controller is hooked up. Unless the game is constantly checking for this, which I think it unlikey, it's won't see the change and will probably not work properly.
