EricDeLee #1 Posted June 28, 2004 I have a Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, 256 MB of Ram, and I'm running Microsoft Windows XP (Professional). My laptop is nearly the exact same thing (but a little slower... I do run the same Windows XP). Can anyone give me any pointers how to get StellaX to work? Right now, I've got it downloaded... and when I double click the Stellax button it pulls up as it normally should. However, if I try to load a game/rom it goes to a black screen and simply kicks me out of the entire program. Am I missing a step somewhere? It works on my laptop... but for some reason it does not work here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (Gotta' have it to play the weekly contests!!!) onkyo_emu #2 Posted June 28, 2004 This is a shot in the dark. Check to see if your desktop settings are in 32 bit color. If they are, try 16 and try again. If it works, you might as well leave it in 16 bit, because unless your doing graphic design or hardcore gaming, I doubt you need 32 bit color on your work machine. I had some issue like this with Gens. Switching to 16 bit worked. And then it started working under 32 bit. It's just one of those things. There are some reports on the internet that Microsoft Windows might have some bugs. And then again, I could WAY off and then just disregard this post. Maybe there's some problems with your video card providing that color depth. The next version of Stella will require 16-bit color at minimum. I know this isn't much consolation right now, but the latest version of Stella for Windows (StellaX 1.4) will be out in the next few weeks. I've tested it on three Windows machines, all running XP (AthlonXP-1700+ w/ 256MB, P4-3.06 w/512MB, and P4-2.4 w/ 1GB). Also tested at 16/24/32-bit color depths, both windowed and fullscreen. My advice is to wait until the new version is released. StellaX 1.1 is years out of date and has unfixable bugs. Steve
EricDeLee #4 Posted June 28, 2004 No luck by switching to 16 bit. It is strange that my laptop will run it, but this thing can't lol Are there any others that I can try that will run Atari 2600? Thanks
