JB #2 Posted June 29, 2004 Someone swapped out the board with a copy of Mario 3 that they rented. As far as I know Kid Icarus was out of print before Mario 3 came into existence, so it's not a factory mistake.

Jasoco #4 Posted July 3, 2004 Quite simple. Back in the day, someone owns a Kid Icarus game. They want to play SMB3 but don't want to buy it. They rent SMB3, swap the board of the rented SMB3 game into their cheapo Kid Icarus game, return the SMB3 game with the Icarus board in it to the rental place and eventually down the road, the carts find their way into a store or flea market or wherever you found it. Sad really. Could have been avoided if the rental store had their own custom sticker that goes over the screw holes so if you break it to take the screws out, you have to pay for the game. Whatever. Not rare, just unfortunate.. unless you really had a hankering to play SMB3 instead. Me, I'd be pissed as I already have TWO SMB3's and no Kid Icarus's. And if I ended up getting yet ANOTHER SMB3, well...
