How picky are you on the condition of your Cart labels?

Recommended Posts

I like to have decent labels with NO writings on em. Glue spots on Activision games are okay. I also prefer art over text on the older 2600 carts.

Or all you care about is that the game works?

I like a nice clean label but in the end, I just want the game to work.

I tend to agree with Joey. My first line is to get a working cart...who cares what it looks like (as long as you don't pay for a pristine condition and get junk).

After that, you can look for a better looking one if you like. :)

I like my labels to be as perfect as possible, but I know a good deal when I see one. I'll generally pick up a cart with a poor label if the price is good and trade up down the road.

I care about label quality. Tears, missing end labels and writing are a big no-no. Actiplaque is acceptable. It's kind of hard to find Activision carts without it. Even if it's a good deal I'd probably pass up a cart with damaged label and wait for a better one to pop up.

I will pass on carts with unacceptable labels. Actiplaque and Sears fading is OK, but not holes or major fading. A tear is OK if it will lay or glue down and no label is missing. In general, I want complete labels in the best condition possible.

Very picky.

I don't want Atari carts that look like they've been buried in mud since 1984. Nor do I want torn/missing labels either.

It has to be mostly intact and in 80% or better condition as far as color and legibility is concerned. Otherwise, I won't buy.

Actually I can't be too picky since pretty much every flaw on my carts can be traced to one culprit.. myself! :D

Not very picky. Although if it's a rather common game, (3 or less is my general standard) I usually pass if the label is poor. I don't go out of my way to seek replacements for my poor condition carts, but I will trade up if I find a good deal. I have a few pretty ugly games in my collection and I'd be thrilled if they were in good shape, but in the end I care more about having the game than if it's pretty or not.

Of course I care if the cart can play, but I also care how nice the box & label are. I will only buy a loose copy that is rare if I don't have it boxed yet, but yes, condition of a cart also plays with me.

:!: :ponder: :)

I agree with most... as long as the game works, I'm happy. If the label sucks... oh well. At least I still have the cart.

Kinda' like my Frogger 2.... someone colored in the entire bottom half of the label with a black marker. But it is still a Frogger 2

Would actiplaque get on a cartridge that is still sealed (maybe shinkwrapped) inside a box? Or is it the residue from handling the carts with greasy hands that causes actiplaque?

Thanks

I don't care about label quality unless it's a game that's famous for having a really cool label. Then, I care about label quality a whole dang lot.

On cheap carts, label quality isn't important.. but on expensive ones I like them to be fine, unless the price is great. For instance, my Boing! cart is broken, with no label... but it's still Boing! and it cost me 99p on eBay! However, my Glib cart is perfect...

If I see a bargain I'll pick it up, then sell it to fund my getting a new, better one... seems sensible to me. Most important though is the cart working, label comes second.

It all depends on the title. If i find a pitfall or a combat that isn't mint a little actiplaque it okay but if they are not perfect i will pass them up. But on the other hand if i find a rirty 7-10 and the label is trashed i am going to pick it up if it is cheap. I have a bomb asault cart where the label is beat to hell but i got it for $1 so i could not pass that up.
