Nostalgic #1 Posted July 5, 2004 In Video Pinball, the collision detection is sometimes a bit off. In many games, I'll see the ball pass through one of the drop targets or rollovers, especially if the ball is moving quickly. It appears to be pretty common; it's seven mentioned in Scott Stilphen's Easter Egg list. However, while playing today, I saw the ball pass through a wall entirely! It came down from the top of the screen pretty fast, bounced off the top of the diagonal bumper in the lower-right corner, and headed straight to the left fast. It went right through the lower-left diagonal bumper and into - and up! - the left drain. After it came out the top of the left drain, I continued playing normally. This is just weird. Has anybody else seen this?
NovaXpress #2 Posted July 5, 2004 Yes, I've seen that before. There are a few little warps in this game. I'm not sure if collision detection for the drop targets is really off. The Atari one has some blank space. You have to hit the yellow pixels to score, going throught the middle won't count.
