How many games in my Atari 2600 have I never played? Is this a trick question? Any game in my Atari 2600 is the one I am playing at the moment, so none. I rarely insert a game into my Atari 2600 and then never play it. :D

Cap5750's Marathon thread got me thinking when he posted this:

So we end the Marathon with the following stats:

Total Games Played: 365

Total Games Played For The First Time: 49

I've at least tried every game in my collection, if nothing else to see that it works.

Now, the REAL question would be, how many games have I played once and never played again. (Sadly Strawberry Shortcake is not to be found on that list... :ponder: :D )

I will try all my boxed games that are not sealed, but the ones that are, I have never played and its not that I just collect, I have already played some of them before when I was a kid and thought they sucked back then.

:ponder: :!:

There are a bunch I've played once or twice, then shelved due to lack of interest. I'd play them the first day I had them, then that was it. Mostly games that were bought from bargain bins after the crash. Small wonder the industry caved in on itself.

Actually, after looking at my game list... it seems to be quite a few of them. :ponder: I'm not sure why I even keep them all. Force of habit, I suppose.

I tested them all, but didn't sit down to actually play a few. Plus, i just got some in the mail today, so i'm gonna test those. Today has been a hellish day at work so as soon as i get home, I'm gonna get pretty drunk and see what I can do at Stampede, then play the games I didn't play yet.

Is there an object to that game? I mean...other then changing her clothes, shoes, hats, etc and watching her dance? :D

LOL. So this is like a spinoff then. Does that mean my thread was like a successful tv show? :)

Out of those 49, the majority of those were some very (to me) obscure titles that I just hadn't made the time to sit down and play. Some, I'm glad I hadn't, but there are a few that were actually quite fun. For example, Eggomania reminds me a lot of Kaboom!. Though that stupid chicken makes me mad when I drop an egg. :x

I'd say there's still a handfull that I haven't yet played. But I plan on continuing the Marathon (to a lesser degree) in order to finish "testing" the remainder of the carts that are left. So that number may soon be 0.

I have played every game in my collection. Have I enjoyed all of them? No, I have Karate and Fire Fly among my carts :)

I'll admit.. I'm more a player than a collector. So every game I own, I had a distinct interest in playing them (hence why I frigging bought them in the FIRST place :D). I barely have any carts that I bought after the fact... i.e. post 1984.

Well I know there's gotta be a few I haven't played. I can't really think of any except for RealSports Baseball which I just got recently. I have quite a few systems now and hooking up my Atari is kind of a hastle. Especially last year in college when my roommate had a horrible huge tv on a dangerous metal shelf. It was very accomidating for video games, so there's probably a couple from last year that I haven't played.

I'm pretty sure every cartridge in my collection has at least been TESTED once, but I'm sure there are many of which I've never played a full game... and some that never got farther than just seeing if the screen came up.

Here's a good test... I am going to go through my list of 2600 carts (208 unique titles) and list off all of them that are so unfamiliar that I can't visualize a screenshot or remember the basic premise of the game:

Bermuda Triangle (no idea whatsoever)

Blueprint (I can sort of visualize it but I think I'm remembering an AA screenshot)

Carnival (ditto with Blueprint)

Challenge of Nexar (uh... nothing's coming to me)

Cosmic Creeps (I remember trying it and being bored and befuddled)

Deadly Duck (I can see a duck... that's about it)

Fantastic Voyage (I'm not even sure I tested this one!)

Kool-Aid Man (I remember it's ugly, that's about it)

Krull (opening screen and some guy riding a camel or something)

M*A*S*H (I remember the AA screenshot)

Planet Patrol (I think I might have played this once)

Porky's (no recollection whatsoever)

Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatoes (these 20th Century Fox movie-based games have a pretty bad track record with me, eh?)

River Raid II (doesn't work)

Sneak 'n Peek (OK, I know the premise... but I also know I've never played it)

Space Shuttle (never bothered to figure it out)

Star Voyager (I remember screenshots but that's it)

Star Wars: Death Star Battle (no clue, sadly)

Star Wars: Jedi Arena (is this with the weird looking guys hovering on discs or something?)

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (I can at least visualize this one)

Stellar Track (yawn)

Super Cobra (I forgot I even had it until now)

Survival Run (no clue at all)

SwordQuest EarthWorld and SwordQuest FireWorld (OK, I've at least tried to play these!)

Thunderground (huh?)

Wabbit (I must've tried it once because I remember it being stupid)

Xenophobe (haven't had a chance to give it a chance)

Zaxxon (tried playing it for about 5 seconds... once...)

Well, the games I insert into my Atari and then never play it are my broken games. Does that count?

Yeah, it does. I have a Stargate that I can't get to work, and I refuse to play Stargate on an emulator until I finally get it fixed or get another one.

BTW, @ARI, clever name 8)

Yep. I've got some rough looking carts in my collection, but that doesn't bother me one whit. All I care about is how well they play.

I realize some folks get all wild over label conditions and the like, and that's all well and good. However, I'll take a battered cartridge and a dog-eared manual and be happy, so long as I'm getting a game I want to play.
