figgler #1 Posted July 7, 2004 Decided to start a thread to vent a bit due to my gaming disapointment this evening. I vote for Bomberman as the worst, most unrewarding, WTF? ending ever. 50 rounds of repetitive bombing folks, oh plus about 10 more bombing-laden bonus stages. The levels never change, only the enemies get faster. Not to crap on Bomberman's gameplay too much, because really I'm a BM fan, and hell I bought the game, but while I was pretty pleased with myself after finally beating the last stage, this shit-tastic ending deflated it: Bad pic, but it says Ugh! chrisbid #3 Posted July 7, 2004 the ending of rampage on the NES, just shows a Map of the US and the screen says Congratulations
Zaxxon #4 Posted July 7, 2004 I nominate the ending of pretty much every Jaguar game.
KaineMaxwell #5 Posted July 7, 2004 Most shump endings are pretty lame with just a "Congradulations!"
ApolloBoy #6 Posted July 7, 2004 I nominate the ending of pretty much every Jaguar game. You better watch out for all the Jag fans you angered...
SteveW #7 Posted July 7, 2004 I believe it was Karnov on the NES that i'm thinking of. I had to use cheats just to struggle to the end boss, and it took what seemed like forever to defeat the final boss. And all that happened was that the screen went blank and it said something like "Congratulation! You Win!" And thus began my disillusionment with the Nintendo Entertainment System. Xot #9 Posted July 7, 2004 Life Force, NES. Not even a "Congratulations!" just the Konami logo and a dumb tune. 1942 was 100 levels and had just the Congratulations! screen. Man, was I pissed at THAT.
NE146 #10 Posted July 7, 2004 Life Force, NES. Not even a "Congratulations!" just the Konami logo and a dumb tune. 1942 was 100 levels and had just the Congratulations! screen. Man, was I pissed at THAT. Well... you do get to see the planet blow up That was actually pretty cool! (for the time at least). Incidentally... here's something you might not know (I just found this out myself)... but the japanese version of Life Force, aka Salamander not only has the credits, but it has alternate endings! I was going to type it all out but ehh fuggit, I'll just quote ArnoldRimmer83 who posted about this in DP. First unlike the US version, there are actually credits that play during the ending, as opposed to the simple screen showing the Konami logo. During the credits you get a picture depending on the continues. If you beat the game without continuing you get a picture of the pilot. When the credits stop rolling, the pilot removes the helmet and reveals itself to be a female. (Similar to Metroid's ending) This ending isn't any different in two player mode unfortunately so I suppose player two's identity will be a mystery. If you beat the game using a continue, you get a picture of the Vic Viper. After the credits are done, the hatch opens up and if you look carefully you can see the pilot waving. And finally if you use up all of your continues, then beat the last stage on your final credit, you'll get a picture of the pilot helmet. The helmet glimmers after the credits. For anybody who has issue 2 of Nintendo Power (With Simon Belmont holding Dracula's head) if you look at page 18 you can see a pic of the Vic Viper from the ending, and on page 19 you can see a pic of the helmet. Jess Ragan #11 Posted July 7, 2004 That other character that Bomberman turns into is none other than Milon of Milon's Secret Castle. I thought the ending was pretty clever myself, but it didn't take long for Hudson to negate it, along with the entire storyline of the first NES Bomberman game. Now he lives on his own Bomberman planet, or something. I always found those endings you get when you beat a game on a lower difficulty setting pretty obnoxious. "Good game! Now try next difficulty level!" Uh, how 'bout you just stop jerking my chain and give me the full ending already?! Morons. I believe Secret Quest on the 2600 didn't have much of an ending either, but let's face it, with all they crammed into that game, there couldn't possibly have been room for one. figgler #12 Posted July 7, 2004 You know what, that is somewhat clever. Thanks, you've softened the BM ending for me a bit and sparked a little interest in playing my copy of Milon at last. Who knew Milon's Secret Castle is a sort of Bomberman 2? Weird, but cool.
Fellow Atari Man #13 Posted July 7, 2004 Ech. B. O. B. for the Sega Genesis. You went through a crapload of levels (how many was it, 40? 60? 80? Can't remember), most of which weren't very fun, and then you get this 20 second long ending of B. O. B. finally making it to his girlfriend, but then his flying car drops off the screen, indicating even MORE problems (and possibly a sequel, which they didn't make, thankfully, unless they were able to make it fun that time around). A bit of a funny ending, actually, but after going through all of those levels, it sucked, and didn't keep you laughing for very long. And Alien3 for the same system, which was very difficult and I could only beat it after I cranked up the continuances to the max (nine), only gave you a roll of credits, an end title screen, and a plea to "please play again". Uh, why? Thank God I only rented it (same with B. O. B.)...

Major_Havoc #15 Posted July 7, 2004 Woops, I all that talk about Life Force made me forget my choice for worst ending. For me... it'd HAVE to be the first Ultima for the NES. That believe it or not was my first Ultima I had played, and since I was spoiled by Phantasy Star, Y's etc. I was probably hoping for a bit more than the poor port onto the NES could've delivered. But DAMN.. was I knocked out at the ending. Hours and hours and hours of playing that damn game.. you'd expect an RPG to have an ending wouldn't you? Well it did. It gave you a black screen that said "The End"
bergbros2 #16 Posted July 7, 2004 For me, I have to vent on the ending of the all time worst. most insulting, most unplayable rip off of all time Swordquest, Earthworld. If you somehow got all the clues without cheating (which was impossible) all you got was the beginning screen and you obtain a stick figure of a sword. That's it. No fanfare for solving the impossible game, no Yars Revenge type explosion, nothing. Nada. Zip. Just the realization that you that you "played" or got played by the biggest scam perpetuated by Atari. King Atari #17 Posted July 7, 2004 The ending in Kung-Fu pisses me off. "But they're happiness is short lived", and then the whole thing starts all over again. I already killed the five freakin' bosses, what'd they have, body doubles?
Han #18 Posted July 7, 2004 Well Bubble Bobble with one player angers me to no avail. Is it possible to complete BB with only one player? There are certain levels that seem to be impossible to solve without help from player 2?! Of course you can always hope to warp past them ...
keilbaca #19 Posted July 7, 2004 Bubble bobble. First of all, you had to have 2 players to get the ending. Which all it was, was "Congratulations, you have rescued your girlfriends, now try Super Bubble Bobble with this password..." GAH! Damn that game was hard, just for a harder version.
keilbaca #20 Posted July 7, 2004 It is possible to beat it with one player, I did it. And to get the good ending, you had to have another life, when you killed the drunken blob, you paused it, pressed select, to bring out the 2nd player, and then kill the drunken thing. Congrats, you get the good ending, with the statement above! (And yes, no cheats, including beating lvl 57... gah that was hard)

joeybastard #23 Posted July 7, 2004 Worst ending is Chuck Norris Superkicks. It has none. You get to the final battle, fight abunch of guys until the time runs out. That's it, not even a "Congratulations, You Survived" or something. Sad Sad Sad.
KaineMaxwell #24 Posted July 7, 2004 And Alien3 for the same system, which was very difficult and I could only beat it after I cranked up the continuances to the max (nine), only gave you a roll of credits, an end title screen, and a plea to "please play again". Uh, why? Thank God I only rented it (same with B. O. B.)... Um, Alien 3's movie ending wasn't so happy and cheerful either, so why would the game's be different?
