rogueleader #1 Posted July 7, 2004 Okay, this I find rather strange. I had a lot of old camera I was getting rid of on ebay. I had already researched them individualy and found that they really were worth nothing. But I was tired of them sitting around so I posted them as a lot. So anyhow, the lot sold for very little as I expected. However when I noticed the buyer's address it was in Taiwan. Seventeen pounds of camera stuff shipped to the other side of the world is not cheap believe me! So I sent the guy the shipping charges and even let him know that if it was to much he could pay my $1.24 in fees everything would be okay. But he paid it anyway. Its an unconfirmed address, IN TAIWAN. Normaly I'd be worried about a scam, but if this guy is scamming he's not very good at it! He does have good feedback and it really is just alot of stuff I would have tossed in the next yardsale anyway, so if I loose it oh well. But still doesn't something seem a little hinky here? What do you guys tink? The link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3825022215 And what do you think the chances of this being opened by customs is? (To me a buttload of camera stuff would sure look suspicious in an x-ray!!)
bjk7382 #2 Posted July 7, 2004 I wouldn't be worried at all, I just checked the last things he has boght on ebay and it was a bunch of old camera stuff. I think there were 5 recent transactions from the US and other countries, that have positive feedback, so I think he just likes old camera stuff and paying a crapload for shipping. povlok1 #3 Posted July 7, 2004 if you are really worried and want a little 'insurance', ask him to send a International Money Order.. this will cover everything..

I guess he's the camera collerctor group's 07PWB or whatever that guys name is. Seriously this dude really likes cameras! Maybe he's building a house out of them or something!! I wasn't really that worried, just foud it rather unusual! Still can't imagine this clearing customs without getting ripped into.

maximebeauvais #7 Posted July 7, 2004 I had a verified address and I'm in Canada.....however, now is it unconfirmed for whatever reason...I just don't care.
rogueleader #8 Posted July 8, 2004 I had two auctions ending to bidders in Canada also this week. One was confirmed, one was not. But perhaps only certain countries can be confirmed?
Hydian #9 Posted July 8, 2004 You are talking about a part of the world where they were paying hundreds of dollars for worn air jordans (first year.) He's buying cameras that most likely were never available over there. With video games, there is a lot of importing (probably in both directions) but I doubt that is true with cameras.
