liveinabin #1 Posted July 11, 2004 I am usually SO opposed to film license games. But, passing a few minutes in a local store, I happened across a playpost playing the new Spiderman game. Five minutes later I'd bought it for my GC. What an astonishing acheivement this is. The huge amount of freedom you get, the collossal play area and NO load times when exploring. It's fun just to swing around the city, never mind the actual missions (which are always fun and full of variety). Treyarch have done a wonderful job here, anyone tempted by the Spidey license should buy it immediately. They've done Spiderman great justice here. Videogames should let you live out fantasies, let you do things that you'd never be able to in real life. Spiderman 2 really fits the bill there. Wonderful stuff. God, I sound like an Amazon review
msaeger #2 Posted July 11, 2004 No way a good movie license game. You must have been hypnotized by the demo or something Really it's good to hear there is one good one out there who makes it anyway ?
Jasoco #3 Posted July 11, 2004 I'm working through the first game. The second looks really good. But not for $50. I'll wait a few months.
Adrian M #4 Posted July 12, 2004 I noticed that the N-Gage version's packaging is already up in most game stores. Don't know if it's actually released yet, but it looks OK. 2D = the best!
PuddWakkr #5 Posted July 12, 2004 Fun to swing around in New York but the actual game kinda blows. Missions are pretty boring and if I have to save one more guy falling from a building I'll puke. If all you have is a Cube and your looking for a GTA ripoff game then this will fit the bill, but for those of you who have played GTA then Spiderman is alot more restrictive in how you can play. There is pretty much only one way to complete a mission which really closes the door on the whole open gameplay experience. My two year old like to make spiderman swing around the city which is pretty much the only reason the game is still here.
DracIsBack #6 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm playing the new game now. The new "web swinging" scheme is more realistic, but also more annoying. I've not gotten into this as much as its predecessors that I also have: Spider-Man (DC) and Spider-Man the Movie (GC)
SteveW #7 Posted July 12, 2004 The N-Gage version is out, too. I saw it a few days ago. And I thought that there were supposed to be a few 3D elements in it, along with the 2D platforming.
Stingray #8 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm glad there's fianlly a good Spiderman game. I'll probably wait for the price to drop though. I find it pretty tough to plunk down $50 for any game, even one that I really want. -S

AH, I see. Was kind of surprised to see that one released so quickly, given the customary delays with the last few N-Gage releases. I'd be interested to hear how well it plays. liveinabin #10 Posted July 14, 2004 I'm playing the new game now. The new "web swinging" scheme is more realistic, but also more annoying. I've not gotten into this as much as its predecessors that I also have: Spider-Man (DC) and Spider-Man the Movie (GC) It gets better as you buy more abilities. The Tony Hawks lineage is clear in this one. I'm pulling off some pretty cool moves as I swing around town now, in fact, I'll often just stick it on for an hour or so and just travel I'm particularly enjoying swandiving from the Empire State BTW. There was a games arcade earlier in the game, and you were supposed top be able to go in and play games. I've lost its location and it's not on the map. Anyone know where it is?
