Adrian M #1 Posted July 12, 2004 OK folks! Halo 2 is still a few months away, but let's get a list of who has pre-ordered so far (as well as which version...standard or limited edition)! I pre-ordered 1 Limited Edition for myself from EbGames. The nerd who works at this particular EBGames location let me in on the fact that this location will possibly have the game the night before its release date and they'll hold a special tournament where the winner gets a free copy of the game! Is this early release/tournament thing nationwide or what? Anyway, list away! Friendly discussion only please! ------------Answer the following--------- 1. Did you preorder? 2. Which version? Jasoco #2 Posted July 12, 2004 I pre-ordered it in December 2002 at GameStop.. Xbox of-damn-course. At first I was disappointed there was no gift for pre-orders. But the Special Edition version option totally makes up for it. Consider me anxious. I did finally get around to pre-ordering my Doom 3 today. Got my Pewter "Baron of Hell". I am tempted to go to EB and Best Buy and get the "Demon" and "Mancubus" ones just to complete the set. Still curious why there wasn't a "Cyberdemon" one. That guy's the BOMB! video game addict #3 Posted July 12, 2004 I preordered the Gamecube version.
Adrian M #4 Posted July 12, 2004 To clarify question #2 (Which version?), I'm referring to the STANDARD $49.99 edition or the $54.99 LIMITED EDITION metal case version.
Jasoco #5 Posted July 12, 2004 Uhh.. hello? The GameStops let you choose when you come in. They will be getting the same amount of both. I will have the choice. Also, I said "Special Edition" in my post. Unless you were referring to GameCube boy, in which case, he was kidding.. I hope.
Jasoco #6 Posted July 12, 2004 Special Edition = Limited Edition, BTW. Whatever. Since I get a choice, what one do you think I'll go for? I mean really! $5 more gets you such a cool thing.. Dammmn..
Adrian M #7 Posted July 12, 2004 Unless you were referring to GameCube boy, in which case, he was kidding.. I hope. I was referring to GameCube boy. Did the store you pre-ordered from tell you anything about selling the game the night before it's due out or any special tournament?
Jasoco #8 Posted July 12, 2004 Ah, okay. Still.. did he really reserve a version? Because there isn't a Cube version coming out. I was under the impression he was just kidding.
rogueleader #9 Posted July 12, 2004 Okay, now I am confused. I had heard something about a Halo game coming out for GBA(not Halo 2). But Game Cube?
SteveW #10 Posted July 12, 2004 I imagine that the sales guy was talking about their store opening up at midnight, just for an hour or two, just to sell Halo. I really doubt that they would sell Halo 2 a day before Microsoft has authorised it to be sold. They're not going to piss off one of the most evil corporations in the world.
Jasoco #11 Posted July 12, 2004 Technically, Midnight would BE the day it is scheduled for. So they wouldn't really be in breach of anything.
rogueleader #12 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm sure plenty of places will be open at midnight to sell the game. And there will be tons of people there to. It's just like a Harry Potter book coming out or going to see Spider Man II at midnight!
Jasoco #13 Posted July 12, 2004 Yeah. I wonder if mine will do it. I'd go at Midnight. I mean, I'd be up anyway.
ubersaurus #14 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm figuring it'll be a midnight sale. I preordered the LE version, and I'm planning on staying up all night to go through campaign mode, and to take a day or two off work for multiplayer shenanigans.
Mr.FoodMonster #15 Posted July 12, 2004 Every now and then (if you have.... 'friends, or the store is just retarded) you can get stuff a few days early. I know that games are a little different now, but they usally get them the day before, but not always. Sometimes a few days. Get a buddie who knows what to do to grab a copy and stash it, or be lucky enough to see it at a store a few days early. Thats how I got my copy of Gran Turismo 2 four days before it came out. Anyways, I hope that Halo 2 is good, I really do. I'm not a fan at all of the first one, and I know that it was rushed. They took their sweet time with this, so I hope that its good. video game addict #16 Posted July 12, 2004 Oh there will be stores giving away early, like with Zelda bonus discs any other junk preorder things. There's always stories of some disgruntled preorder fanybody PO'ed cuz the game he ordered was sold to someone else. I guess he's got every right to be PO'ed though, just some lame employees at some of these stores. I've only preordered a couple times from B&M places, and it's typically for the freebiees. Every now and again I will preorder online as well, it's safer to me in a sense that I feel the bonus will show up, and not be given away. I don't want to hear "Such & such gave your preorder goodies to his pal in the honnnda" I just don't trust these kids today. What no GC version! Damnit!! Major Havoc 2049 #17 Posted July 12, 2004 I pre-ordered the LE Edition a few days after they anounced it. I plan to take a few days vacation when Halo 2 is released.
Clock #18 Posted July 12, 2004 I don't see any point in pre-ordering it, at least not here in the UK. We get no freebies and no news on the LE metal box 2 disc version either . On top of that there will be plenty of available so I will just bowl up to the shop and buy it, or I may get it online which can mean I get it one day early. Halo is released Nov 9th which is a Tuesday, seems like an odd date to me. Here in the UK it is Thursday the 11th November which is also odd, I don't understand the 2 day delay or the fact that it isn't a Friday like every other game ever!!! When does that come out? I was looking at it, just didnt have the money (or knowledge of the release date.) We're talking Xbox, right?
JerseyDevil #21 Posted July 12, 2004 I didn't pre-order it. I want something for free if I do, otherwise whats the point? The idiots at my local Gamestop told me I would not be able to find one for about a month anywhere unless I pre-ordered it. I just laughed at him. This game is not sneaking up on anybody, everybody knows it will be a top seller. There will be plenty of copies available. I wish it was coming out today. This game is not sneaking up on anybody, everybody knows it will be a top seller. There will be plenty of copies available. I wish it was coming out today. Of course the game will be everywhere. But, I learned from past experiences that the special editions can be hard to get if not pre-ordered. If you want the metal case version of Halo 2, your best bet will be just to get it pre-ordered and be done with it. My DC version of Shenmue is the standard edtion, even though I figured that the Limited Edition version would be easy to come by on day of release. NE146 #23 Posted July 12, 2004 I never pre-order unless something cool (like the bonus Zelda disc) comes with it. But I'll be all over Halo 2 when it comes out. I don't think it'll be hard to find at all... unless you need it on the first day or something. But I guarantee you that within the first 2-3 weeks you should be able to find a copy easily at some place, somewhere. So I aint worried about pre-order. Now if I could only finish Halo
