E3 Games Catching Your Eye

Was just checking out the E3 coverage in EGM...

 

I guess it's mostly the obvious things that I'm gonna be interested in: PS2's GTA, Xbox's Halo 2, GC's new Zelda, Metroid Prime 2, and I think Donkey Konga.

 

What about you all?

donkey konga seems to be the only original game, and its really an offshoot of samba de amigo and other music instrument games

Absolutely true. I don't know how much of that is the Industry's conservatism and how much is my own. There are a # of new games out there, but I'm less willing to sink the time into finding out which ones rock and which ones suck, so I guess I tend to stick with known quanities...plus they capture a nostalgia vibe from my youth...

Yeah, I know. I can't play import games on my PS2 though, so I'll have to wait. That's not too bad though, because the US release date is September 21st - my birthday!

Yea, i pretty much buy all my games off base, because the BX has a shitty game selection, its mainly intended for the kiddies... no good for the classics. Had to get my DDR off base, my Soul Calibur 2, marvel vs capcom 2, basically all the good games.

I went off base and they had a full version of Gradius V playing on a PS2... my friends wouldn't let me play that long but the 1st level is the same and just as easy as Gradius 4. Just wanted to let you guys know... i wish i could have spent more time on it.

So far the only game from E3 I'm waiting for is Suikoden IV. There's a few other games I'm looking forward to as well, but weren't shown at E3, such as Phantom Brave.

Oh yeah, that one looks quite interesting. I'm such a star wars fan boy...the only game close to that I tried is SOCOM, didn't like it but I think most of my problems with SOCOM aren't shared in Battlefront...

I bought the E3 Access DVD at GameStop just to watch the videos and have them without using HD space and having to watch them on a computer. The DVD ROCKS. 4 discs. Three consoles and PC with lots of extras.

 

As for the games I am REALLY after:

Um... uh...Honestly.. nothing that's not going to be on other consoles. Except MAYBE Jak 3.

Whoo.. That's a lot of money. Good thing I recently took a vow to put off collecting for a year. That'll save the money for games I wanna play.

I wanna see how Under The Skin turns out. The concept is similar to Destroy All Humans (a game where you're an alien invading Earth), but instead of running around killing people, you simply annoy them. Under The Skin looks like the most deliciously weird Japanese game since Guitaroo-Man, and I look forward to its Stateside release.

I watched the DVD again last night and I wanna add StarFox (As long as it's a LARGE PERCENTAGE flying through space or on the planets. I don't want a lot of walking tank bullshit. And fuck multiplayer. I want a better one player campaign, or better yet, multiplayer mission mode. No more Deathmatch fad.)

 

Also, I'm curious about 100 Bullets. It looks REALLY nice, but well, games can look nice and still suck. But I did like the 3D cartoon cel shading on this one.
