Any body know this controller?

I just got in a big lot of Atari controllers CIB, like this big ass HS 15 Tournament Master controller from VPI and a few others, but the seller also threw in these loose controllers and one extension cord for them, but I have never seen them before, they have the right plug for a 2600, but it has 2 fire buttons and around the base of the joystick it says " Newport Controls - Bishop, CA.

 

Does anyone know anything about these controllers? are they rare?

newport was a player in the controller game, not a wico but in the stores at least. i've come across a few of their controllers and i think what you have might be for another system, i mean why would a 2600 need two fire buttons?

 

i have a light blue and black model newport controller that i assumed was a 2600 until i read that it was for the colecovision.

That's an awesome controller and a hard one to find CIB. Been looking for one of those. Congrats!!!

It would be nice to rewire one of those for use on an Atari 7800!
