ussexplorer #1 Posted July 17, 2004 Thanks to finding a Super Mario all star cart at a thrift store for the snes. I was able to beat Super Mario II. I never realized how close I came to the end of the game before. Also I'm working on Mario Lost Levels and Up to 7-1. Much better than Mario II. I think we got jipped. laters, ussexplorer
chrisbid #2 Posted July 17, 2004 the US Mario 2 is my favorite of the series. JPN Mario 2 is really just Super Mario remix, back in the 80's that wouldnt have gone over that well
ubersaurus #3 Posted July 17, 2004 Japan mario 2 is freakin awesome. I love that game...just don't take any warps. You want to go to world 9 don't you?
ussexplorer #4 Posted July 18, 2004 Yea I noticed most warps I ran into including going over a flag goes back to world 1-1. snicker later, ussexplorer
Jasoco #5 Posted July 18, 2004 I'm sad they "Fixed" the "Minus World" bug by simply removing the brick that caused you to get sucked into the wall in the first place. I'd love to have seen what it did in this version. BTW, Super Mario 2 Japan (Lost Levels) is coming out in Japan as a Game Boy Advance Famicom Mini rerelease. I'll probably import it. So cool. And so unfair we still only have the first set. I really want Dr. Mario and Balloon Fight.

Jap Mario 2 was released in the US as Lost Levels for the SNES.

Jap Mario 2 was released in the US as Lost Levels for the SNES.You're gonna have to prove it. The bricks needed are missing. Show me how you do it and I will believe you. (Hint: Get a screen movie recorder and a ROM of SMB2 FDS and show me.) Demanding, ain't I?
nester #9 Posted July 18, 2004 Well I don't know about anyone else, but I never did like Super Mario All-Stars. It came out at a time when Nintendo seemed like they wanted to destroy all their history and there was nothing worse than old 8-bit games. The enhanced graphics added nothing to the games, and they got rid of the classic feel. The lost levels were kinda neat, but I sure am glad that we got the Super Mario Bros. 2 that we did. I guess I've lightened up since then, but I'd still take the original Nintendo versions any day of the week. I finally got around to beating Super Mario Brothers 2 last year, and it was very satisfying! I think it's the hardest of the three.
JB #10 Posted July 18, 2004 Personally, I think a save function made a world of diffrence to Super Mario 3. I thought the resprite was a nice touch. Especially since they didn't muck with the gameplay as near as I could tell(I could never get into the minus zone, so it doesn't matter to me if they broke it). So I whined for a few moments about the lack of rivets on the '?' blocks, then got on with my life and enjoyed 4 Mario games in one cart. Which was doubly nice since I had yet to acquire an NES at the time.
