zombiecraig #1 Posted July 20, 2004 What is the best baseball game for the Genesis? I enjoy the World Series Baseball series pretty well (I only have one of them, '95 I think). Are any others worth owning? I liked the RBI Baseball games on the NES, but are the Genesis versions decent? And what about the EA games?

I know alot of people don't like it but I think Tommy Lasorda Baseball is pretty good. The only downfall is it does not have real players.
A2600 #3 Posted July 20, 2004 Sports Talk Baseball is good and it features real TEAMS/PLAYERS its based on the 1992 Major League Lineups Tommy Lasorda is good, but the fielding is poor on that game, In my opinion.
SS #4 Posted July 20, 2004 IMHO, you don't need anything besides one of the "World Series Baseball" games. I don't even really like baseball but these games are great fun.
oesii #5 Posted July 20, 2004 Yep I would go with World Series 98', it's pretty close to the Saturn ports of WSB. I think I have a couple of sealed boxes of WSB 98 in a box somewhere
chrisbid #6 Posted July 20, 2004 world series baseball 95, 96, and 98 are all the exact same game with minor roster changes. tommy lasorda has an arcady feel to it, complete with silly music
atari_wizard #7 Posted July 20, 2004 tommy lasorda was my favorite! great game. thats one of the few games that i have boxed with instructions for the sega genesis. i still play this game. i use the dodgers alot, though i think detroit had the best team. maibock #8 Posted July 20, 2004 I love them all Tony Larrusa Baseball is pretty fun as well, but yeah World Series Baseball has the better all around baseball experience. Although I also enjoy Triple Play Gold, oh yeah and ESPN's Baseball is pretty good too!
King Atari #9 Posted July 20, 2004 Tommy Lasorda Baseball is my favorite, nothing special, just good Genesis baseball.
Avid Fan #10 Posted July 20, 2004 For 10 years I have said that RBI 93 is the best baseball game ever. I think it still is, go get it

Adrian M #12 Posted July 22, 2004 Tommy Lasorda is good' date=' but the fielding is poor on that game, In my opinion.[/quote'] You're not kidding there. Forget about throwing runners out on routine infield grounders as plays take far too long to develop. Double plays? Hahaha! Forget it! Still though...Tommy Lasorda Baseball was the first 16-bit sports I ever played and at the time, there was nothing quite like it in terms of overall polish and features. Anyone here persevere and play through a season? Remember those ultra-long passwords?

Cap5750 #15 Posted July 22, 2004 In addition to what's already been mentioned, I might add you can throw spitballs in RBI. Be carefull though...you can get ejected. As for my favorite...it's tough to say. They each hold a special place. For example, with the exception of Altered Beast, which came with it, Tommy Lasorda was the first game I bought. Coming from my Atari 2600, I was blown away by the graphics and the "talking". Then there's Sportstalk. I recall this one due to the fact that my college roommates and I played it to death. The computer wasn't much of a challenge, but playing two players was great. Besides...the announcer reminded me of the announcer from one of my favoite arcade games...Bottom of the 9th. RJ #16 Posted July 24, 2004 I also vote for Sportstalk BBall. Got it w/ a garage sale Genny. Not bad at all. It's funny when you repeatedly move the infield back & forth- no matter how fast you do it, the anncr tries to keep up w/ you- "Infield back, infield in, infield normal" over & over. Also sometimes he'll still be calling the final play after the game ends & the final score is displayed.
Brad2600 #17 Posted July 24, 2004 R.B.I Baseball '93 was one of my favorites. Used to play the hell out of it when I was 11.
+Cobra Kai #18 Posted July 25, 2004 Any Genesis baseball games that track season player stats? I have Larussa Baseball and boy is that ever horrible. It does have all those cool statistic cards that came with the game though...those are kinda neat.

zombiecraig #20 Posted July 26, 2004 Okay, so I got RBI '93 for 42 cents the other day with the box and everything. That was nice. It's a pretty decent game. I'll try to track down some others as well. Are those later Triple Play Genesis games any good?

Dhenderson0432 #22 Posted March 9, 2020 I've been racking my brain for years trying to figure out a baseball game, but I cant. It involves animal-like characters that you can choose from to make your team. They have traditional baseball fields, but one of the fields I know for sure has a pond and palm trees in it. I've looked online, and nothing, so hopefully someone here can help. I think it was in the Nintendo era, but I've looked from Nintendo, to sega, to super Nintendo. Hope someone can help
derFunkenstein #23 Posted March 9, 2020 I'm somewhere between World Series '94 (because the announcing is SO FUN) and Triple Play Gold (because it's my favorite to actually play). But, uh, I'm replying to 16-year-old thread. I have no idea what game Dhenderson0432 is looking for.
Noah98 #24 Posted March 10, 2020 For some reason I find hitting in Tommy Lasorda Baseball really difficult. I like the graphics and style, but that part is just frustrating I think Sports Talk Baseball actually plays the best, so that is the one I recommend.
