~llama #1 Posted July 21, 2004 i love Xevious, but ive never played the NES port of it... would it be worth trading away Q*bert for Xevious? or should i just hang on to Q*bert... recommendations?
rockman_x_2002 #2 Posted July 21, 2004 NES Xevious is fairly close to the arcade version. But it's a tough call to make because both it and Q*Bert are excellent games. If there's any way you could just buy Xevious and keep Q*Bert, that would be the better option.
Student Driver #3 Posted July 21, 2004 I'd hang on to Q*bert; in my own experience, Xevious is a bit easier to find in the wild. If you aren't wanting to future-proof your collection, though, and are solely concerned with gameplay experiences, IMO Xevious is more fun to play- I've never had much luck playing Q with control pads. The bad thing about NEX Xevious: I can't stand the name printed on the box and label- "Xevious: The Avenger." Right up there with "Galaga: Demons of Death" as stupid modernizations of classic game names.
christianscott27 #4 Posted July 21, 2004 7800 xevious man, thats all you need!
~llama #5 Posted July 21, 2004 7800 xevious man' date=' thats all you need![/quote'] A 7800 (more specifically money with which to buy one) would be required for that... I really kinda hate RPG's so i might trade Dragon Warrior for it (but thats probably NES blasphemy ) or... how hard to find in the wild is Rush'n Attack? ive never seen it anywhere but my bedroom
~llama #6 Posted July 21, 2004 d'oh forgot to ask this: how rare is the Super Mario Bros cartridge that just has SMB on it? it would seem to me that that would be rarer than the SMB/DH or SMB/DH/Track Meet ones... is it worth eight bucks at this buy/sell/trade place? or is that a ripoff... i really need an NES rarity guide, in case you cant tell
sigma #7 Posted July 21, 2004 i really need an NES rarity guide' date=' in case you cant tell [/quote'] *cough*
sigma #8 Posted July 21, 2004 Oh, and no one in their right minds should ever pay $8 for any SMB
~llama #9 Posted July 21, 2004 google is my friend, i should have found that on my own... thanks though

~llama #11 Posted July 22, 2004 i traded Rygar (i know some will complain but i found it boring) and Dragon Warrior (im not really an RPG guy, i find this one tedious) and Monopoly for SNES for Xevious and that SMB-only cart. even trade value-wise, and i'll enjoy these games a hell of a lot more than i enjoyed Monopoly on SNES
~llama #12 Posted July 22, 2004 btw NES collectors in Memphis, this Replays near Wolfchase had Megaman 6 for seventeen bucks *~llama needs 17 bucks*
~llama #13 Posted July 22, 2004 (damn edit button) also this place has a big rack of games for 6 or 8 bucks, including City Connection, Captain Planet, all kinds of things... so if you live in Memphis and are a serious NES collector i suggest you get to the Replays on Stage between Brother and Appling (memphis folks will know what im talking about)
King Atari #14 Posted July 22, 2004 For some reason, Q*Bert goes for insane amounts of money here. I mean, a place has 'em for sale for $10-$15, and they actually sell! Same with the original Mario Bros. port on NES, I almost never see it for less than $10, glad I got mine years ago for $5! Xevious is a very easy find, as is SMB-only (I prefer the plain SMB cart, looks better in a lineup with SMB2 and SMB3). It can't be considered even remotely rare, though. Godzilla #15 Posted July 22, 2004 7800 xevious man' date=' thats all you need![/quote'] this is too true. the nes version just cant compare to the 7800 version. its so good i turned down buying a xevious arcade game and bought a 7800 and xevious instead. PaulEMoz #16 Posted July 22, 2004 this is too true. the nes version just cant compare to the 7800 version. its so good i turned down buying a xevious arcade game and bought a 7800 and xevious instead. I doubt it would be "instead". I would have thought the arcade game would have cost considerably more than a 7800 with game. It still would have been better to play on the arcade machine, too. Godzilla #17 Posted July 23, 2004 the arcade game was only around $100. so it really was an instead :-) I already had the game reserved in my name and has a deposit on it. I had been saving my money towards it for a while, as well. Then I played the 7800 version.
PaulEMoz #18 Posted July 24, 2004 Man, I'd have done anything to come up with the $100 for the arcade machine too. I always really liked that game. It was LOUD too!
rockman_x_2002 #19 Posted July 24, 2004 Xevious is a very easy find, as is SMB-only (I prefer the plain SMB cart, looks better in a lineup with SMB2 and SMB3). It can't be considered even remotely rare, though. Around here, SMB is considered to be the NES's "Combat." They're a dime a dozen. I have both SMB and the SMB/Duck Hunt cart. Went to some shops yesterday and so help me a guy had a box chocked full of SMB and SMB/Duck Hunts for $7. There were easily 15 or more carts in there. Which leads to another good question. What on earth would anyone do with 15 SMB and SMB/Duck Hunt carts!?
~llama #20 Posted July 24, 2004 from what ive seen around here, the SMB/Duck Hunts are like Combat, the SMB/Duck Hunt/Track Meets are a little bit harder to find but still easy, and one doesnt come across an SMB-only very often, but i agree that it does look a lot nicer in the collection than the SMB/DH/WCTM i traded away for Link and SMB3 (along with those other games) did...
