Cousin Vinnie #1 Posted July 26, 2004 Since we have played a few games that aren't very popular in the last few weeks, I have decided to let everyone have a big ole time with Ballblazer. We will play Ballblazer on Droid 9 setting, with a 3 minute time limit Your score should include the final score, and if you defeated the Droid 10-0, it should include the score as well. Ballblazer will offer points in Overall Standings Atari/ Computer Classics Standings The game will end Saturday Night at 11:59PM Enjoy! Cousin Vinnie #2 Posted July 26, 2004 if you defeated the Droid 10-0, it should include the score as well I meant "time" instead of score in the sentence... This is an example: Hello. My name is Jedi Jeff. I defeated the hardest computer droid 10-0 with 2:56:34 left in the game. Good luck everyone! Have fun! Cousin Vinnie
Goochman #3 Posted July 27, 2004 Ok, Droid 9 cheats Im sure of it! I was up 6-3 with 6 seconds left - he gets a double to tie at 5-5 and then overtime which I lost 6-4. Thats the best game I could get. Any hints on how to steal the ball, seems like Droid 9 has all angles covered when the ball gets knocked lose while my Droid flies about a mile away
Trip_Cannon #4 Posted July 28, 2004 Yeah, I agree.. I was ahead until the last minute.. Still managed to nab 6-4.. Trying again here soon....

rockman_x_2002 #7 Posted July 29, 2004 Best Ballblazer run I've ever had. Thanks to a series of lucky three-pointers. And the boneheadded mistake that the computer made in giving me the winning point. Back last semester at college, during break I and a couple other friends would bring our 7800s and we held Ballblazer tournaments. Aggresive players so I always practiced playing against Droid9. rockman_x_2002 #9 Posted July 29, 2004 Ummmmm... damn... Yeah. I consider those little tournaments we held as Ballblazer Boot Camp. Should've seen some of the other guys I played against back last semester. Geez... It's just too bad that Ballblazer is played on an open field. If the 7800 could've handled it, some Combat-like fields to navigate through would've made the game interesting. Even more so, four-player multiplayer. But... given the time and the limitations of the 7800 I suppose that's impossible, right?
jedijeff #10 Posted July 29, 2004 One key to a quick victory against droid 9 is knowing which way the goal posts will be going. The other is getting a good serve. After playing a while you should be able to tell by sight and sound where you need to be to get to the ball first most of the time. But how can you tell which way the goal posts will go? They always start in the center if I remember correctly. When you are going for the ball right after it is served and the droid passes by on your left, the goal posts will be moving to the right. And when the droid passes by on your right, the goal posts will be moving left. So at the start of a game (when the goal posts are farthest apart) grab that ball and try for the long distance shot. So far my best winning time is 18.1 seconds/ 2:41.9 left. Jeff

Getting a two-pointer is almost impossible because by the time you have the goal in any good sight, the droid's there to steal the ball away. One-point pushes into the goal are possible, but you must be quick, or let the computer be stupid enough to shove it in for you. This I have learned through many years of Ballblazing. Trip_Cannon #13 Posted July 29, 2004 I figured about the 3 point shots. I'd make 3, 3-pointers pretty easy but after that the droid starts kicking my arse!! Arrrgh!! Nice scores you guys!!!

7800 Man #17 Posted August 1, 2004 Well, hopefully I'll find time to get in on week 12. Those scores are great guys and I'll have to try Ballblazer when I have time just to see how I can do personally. Al
Cousin Vinnie #18 Posted August 2, 2004 Yeah Trip, I was half asleep when I posted that and didn't even see your score. When I totaled them all up I couldn't believe it. It actually made me feel bad b/c I don't have a way to capture pics. Then I wondered where I got that extra hundredth of a second. I was seeing things. But anyway, that was a very good run by both of us. Jeff and Rockman are freaks. CV
