Metroid Prime... Omega Pirate

Recommended Posts

Okayy, how on earth do you defeat this mo-fo? I've gone thru the instructions in several FAQs and still haven't been able to do it. I did go back thru the various worlds, and try to get as many power ups that I may have missed (and boy, did I find quite a few!)..

So, in short. WTF is the easwiest way to get this guy?

Raijin Z gave the hint of using Super Bombs on him, and I find that it helps quite well. Keep your distance from him, and always keep an eye out on the phazon pools.

I'm still trying to beat him on hard mode though...

I found power bombs useless.

I dunno. He never gave me much trouble(on normal, haven't had a chance to od a hard mode run).

And one of the greatest moments in the game was in my Omega Pirate battle.

He brought in a trio of power beam pirates. I dropped a super missile into the center one, and all 3 went flying across the room in diffrent directions from the blast. It was beautiful.

I really can't think of an easy way of beating him. But I've done it a couple of times only with persistance. If remember correctly, to easily expose his body armor use super missles. But don't rely on this too much cause you're gonna use them up quickly. What I did throughout the battle was first remember where all the phazon pools were located. Then attack him at a mid distance. not too close or far.But while shooting him move around him in circles the entire time.

I don't remember most of the techniques i used since its been a while I've beaten it. I think the Omega pirate is the hardest one in the game. Followed by Metroid Prime then Ridley.

I think the Omega pirate is the hardest one in the game.

Everyone says that... I was really let down when I got to him.

I'd have to give Omega's place in the hard boss list to Thardus. Now THERE was a boss that put up a fight.

Thardus is the Stone one right? If he is then I would say that guy is a hell lot easier than Omega. OK, maybe not real easy but it doesn't take more effort than with Omega.

Yah. The stone monster.

He actually caused me some stress. Largely because of that blizzard for the second half of the fight.

The omega pirate was a pushover, as far as I'm concerned.

Thadus is probably an easiest boss if you have the paitence and can move around quickly.

Omega Pirate is rather hard to deal with especially since there's often a couple pirates around to cause trouble.

Thardus threw me when the blizzard came in. I had to get closer than I was comfortable with to fight him, and I took several hits I shouldn't have.

The omega pirate's beam pirates were the only even mild threat(aside from my tendancy to dodge into some phazon while getting out of his way...). And they weren't usually around long enough to cause trouble.

...

This may be because he kept lobbing color-co-ordinated pirates at me, but that's not the point.

Real examples:

2 ice pirates right next to each other. Charge ice, fire ice, let splash ice both pirates at once, fire 1 missile into each pirate(ice was SO over-powered in Prime). I believe the 3rd pirate was a wave pirate. Quick charge, fire, stun, finish job at leisure or ignore and let Omega crush him in a moment.

3 power pirates at once? Charge power, fire super missile, laugh hysterically as a trio of ragdolls fly across the room.

I found Ridley to be amazingly hard until I found out about the wave beam trick. I beat the Omega Pirate pretty easily if I remember right, just super missle his armor off, then use the x-ray visor and hammer him when he's trying to recharge at a pool. Been a while, though, so that may be the wrong sequence of things to do to him.

That sounds about right to my recolleciton. I didn't find Ridley all that tough either,to be honest. I think the Omega Pirate is the toughest battle in the game. Thardus wasn't tough, it just took forever. Metroid Prime, in both forms, is a bitch, but the Omega Pirate kicked my ass more often.

I had a TON of trouble with the Omega Pirate until I finally figured out the timing. Now I don't quite remember what the deal was. But basically, you need to scan him to find the weak spots, blast those, and then when he becomes invisible, go into X-ray visor and wait for him to teleport to one of the Phazon pools. There's a moment in each time he's doing that when he's vulnerable, and you have to hit him right at that moment. (Sorry... I forget which weapon it was now, too!)

I found a tip on GameFAQs that helped a lot.

If you think Omega Pirate is tough... just wait until you get to Meta-Ridley! I have basically given up on the game at that point because even though I know about the side-jump trick, I still can't get ANYWHERE with him after his wings burn off. He wastes me in a matter of seconds. (And I have the maximum energy points... )

One of the things I remember about Meta Ridley was that straight power beam shots did significant damge, because in his vulnerability period you can get a LOT of shots off in a short period of time. I found that that worked for me becuase if I was slighty off target I could adjust my aim and just keep firing. If you're shooting at him only with super missiles, you really only get one, maybe two shots due the charge time and if you miss, you miss.

The auto-lock doesn't seem to function effectively against Meta Ridley. It seems to lock just off-center from the actual target.

Thanks! You know, straight power beam is probably the only thing I HAVEN'T tried against him.

As the game progresses, that particular weapon is made to seem more and more useless... it makes perfect sense that Retro was just messing with us and in fact it would be VERY useful right at the end.

I can't wait until I have a few spare minutes to fire up MP again...!

I wound up using the power beam more and more, because it was the only thing with a decent rate of fire.

Maybe that's why my progress slowed as the game went on...

I need to give Meta-Ridley one more shot. It's kind of frustrating that I haven't finished the game, but I really lost steam. I got 100% of the pick-ups... I feel like there's really nothing left (well... there's Meta-Ridley, Metroid Prime, and Essence of Metroid Prime, plus whatever little stuff comes between MR and MP)... but yet I have a nagging in the back of my mind because I'm so close, but haven't finished it.

Gotta get through the rest before MP2 comes out!

AAAAAARGH!

I was SOOO close to killing Meta-Ridley. He was down to one tiny little sliver of energy left, and then he went on a rampage and killed me. I finally think I figured out the "trick"... wait till he's about to roar, blast him with a charged power shot, and then when that stuns him, hit him with a super missile. Unfortunately, I just didn't have enough juice left to wipe him out. So, with my hands cramped and shaking, I tried again... and did much worse.

I am NEVER going to beat him!!!

Here's a solution: start tossing ET carts at the dragon. The bad game will drive that dragon insane and he'd self combust. :D

Who summons me.....?

A well-timed powerbomb will take out all of the Omega Pirate's armor in one shot. At the worst, it'll take out the legs and damage the upper portions.

That's a fun adventure. It's cool to roam around the different worlds... by the time you've killed the Omega Pirate it's pretty easy to get around much faster than you could along the way. I ended up resorting to a guide to locate the last few power ups... there's some great stuff on GameFAQs to that end.
