Cousin Vinnie #1 Posted August 3, 2004 Yeah, this game is a trip. Let's ham it up. I decided to go with Impossible Mission this week because I think it is impossible to go two weeks in a row without Jedi Jeff. HSC: www.flipsiderunner.com/7800/highscore.html Next week we will have a Double Down week (Two games with one combined score to determine the winner) and the next week we will have open voting! Enjoy! Cousin Vinnie
Cousin Vinnie #2 Posted August 3, 2004 I'm an idiot. I meant for this sentence to be funny. This is what I meant: I decided to go with Impossible Mission this week because I think it is impossible to go two weeks in a row without Jedi Jeff winning at least once. Anyway, forgive the brain fart. Cousin Vinnie
Tempest #3 Posted August 3, 2004 You should use the "fixed" rom. This way we can finally see if it really is fixed. I know I've tried to play it through but I suck at IM. Tempest
Trip_Cannon #4 Posted August 3, 2004 I can't get the "fixed" rom to work.. Can somebody help me with this?

+Mitch #7 Posted August 5, 2004 You should use the "fixed" rom. This way we can finally see if it really is fixed. I know I've tried to play it through but I suck at IM. Tempest The easiest way to test Impossible Mission is to map the game out. The game map that you see right after you power on the 7800 is always the same. If you die, don't hit "Reset", turn the power off and then on and you will have the exact same map. Much easier for testing. Mitch
jedijeff #8 Posted August 5, 2004 Best I could do was 4300. Sure wish I could send in my cart for a fixed version. Jeff
Trip_Cannon #9 Posted August 5, 2004 I can pretty much confirm that the "fixed" ROM is not really fixed. I've cleared out every single piece in the game and I'm still missing pieces.

Tempest #11 Posted August 6, 2004 Damn. I wonder what's messed up in the code? Is it possible to compare the NTSC to the PAL version and see how they differ? Once you throw out the PAL/NTSC signal code differences, what's left must be the "fix". Tempest
Trip_Cannon #12 Posted August 6, 2004 I can tell you one thing, if it helps any... I've always heard that it's one piece that's missing out of the bunch.. but it's actually 11 pieces that are missing. You'll be lucky to hit 25 out of the 36 pieces of the puzzle when you play. +Mitch #13 Posted August 6, 2004 The problem isn't just one piece missing because it can vary from game to game. The problem is that the game logic for hiding the pieces lets pieces be hidden behind the non-searchable computer terminals. Oh and thank you to Trip_Cannon for testing it out. gdement #14 Posted August 6, 2004 I'm not sure how the "fixed" NTSC version was produced, but it seems the best way to fix the game would be for an interested party to disassemble the PAL version and convert it to NTSC. I believe "Desert Falcon" has already been disassembled and somebody recently started working on "Robotron". Those were being disassembled for research purposes as far as I know. Maybe "Impossible Mission" would be a better game to disassemble since it would provide the additional benefit of fixing the game. Trying to fix an unknown bug in the NTSC version seems a lot harder than performing a known PAL->NTSC conversion. But I say this without knowing if maybe that's what was already done. Mayhem #15 Posted August 6, 2004 And if someone can convert Robotron to PAL, please do Sadly the fixed IM doesn't work properly on my PAL 7800 (freezes when you enter a room) otherwise I would have shown whether it was properly fixed or not ages ago (I can beat the 7800 version with my eyes shut). Trip_Cannon #16 Posted August 6, 2004 (I can beat the 7800 version with my eyes shut). Being a c64 player I would expect nothing less!!
Mayhem #17 Posted August 6, 2004 In some ways it's actually harder as the 7800 somersault is a lot less forgiving. On the other hand, it's easier to avoid the robots and do your searching, so it balances out.
Trip_Cannon #18 Posted August 6, 2004 If at first you don't succeed, Go to PAL!
