STUN Runner for Xbox, GCN, PS2 : Cancelled

The promised arcade-perfect conversion of Atari's STUN Runner for home consoles has been cancelled by Midway.

 

That's right. They announce it many moons ago, wait for all the anticipation to build in the hearts of fans, and then rip that heart out.

No, its not gone. He made a error on his list. Its the original Mortal Kombat that was removed. Its two sequels remain.

In a way I'm relieved, given how a good portion of STUN Runner's appeal came from using the special handlebar/steering wheel setup.

Somehow the experience just wouldn't be the same using a standard controller, as we can attest from the overly twitchy controls in Paperboy and Super Sprint in the first Midway Collection.

I'm actually pleased that they have Wacko in it, and dual analog controls could make a workable analogue to the unique arcade control scheme. now hopefully they'll actually make the presentation itself halfway decent and accurate this time

According to the list in that article, it IS III that is gone.

 

It definitely seems that they are ripping games out of this for use in a possible MAT3, and it sucks if you ask me. I'll still probably buy 2 and 3 as well.

That sucks big time. I'll still get it though. I really wanted to play Stun Runner and Steel Talons, I never got to play them as a kid.

No, it's MK 1 that's gone. According to gamespot they are building it into the new MK game, so they have eliminated it here. Also it's getting the TV games treatment soon enough.

 

While a few of the games are good, and I'll be buying this regardless, I am finding it tough to call it "Arcade Treasures" without giggling to myself.

Where is Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in all this?It was a ROM upgrade in the arcades,so it should be somewhat simple to add on the list

If the recent outburst from one of Midway's marketing drones doesn't prove that the company hates older games, this new list of games in Midway Arcade Treasures 2 surely does. It was like the company decided that the collection was going to be too cool scaled it back accordingly.

Ahhh, STUN Runner, great game, too bad they are removing it. Really need a good steering wheel controller to enjoy it, though. And the motorcycle-like seat.
