Weird Berzerk Problem

Recommended Posts

I've got a Berzerk cartridge here. It starts up fine, I can play a full game. But after a few minutes, the screen changes to 2 blue lines on the outside and a thick red one in the center with a black background. It's not the Atari, because none of my other games do this.

If it's not the Atari.... Well I'd assume it was the cart.

I have a few games that do this. In some cases the cart itself needs something wedged in between the cart and the unit to put a little pressure on it. Mostly on Activision carts. Might just be that they need a good cleaning.

Sounds like it could be a power-related problem. Do you have another power supply you can try? Either that or some part's characteristics are changing when it's getting warm, causing failure of the entire system at that point. But IAMAEL (I am not an Electrical Engineer) so I could be wrong. Swapping the power supply would be the first thing I'd try, though.

Why would a bad power supply only effect one game though?? :?

I have a Skate Boardin' cart that would play for a few seconds, play the music slow, then crash to a screen full of junk. I have a new power supply, and no other games do this.

Some carts may draw more current than others.
