Stingray #26 Posted August 11, 2004 The result of extreme boredom. Here's more than you'd ever care to know about Sucrets tins: http://www.chiptin.com/antiqibles/tins/thr...oat_lozenge.htm The readers digest version is that the Sucrets tins were hinged, but they were phased out in 1994. Boy has this thread gone wildly off topic. -S
RavenOne #27 Posted August 11, 2004 Same thing goes for DOOM3. By and large' date=' it's just another shooter as you would say. But it's the engine and the possibilities that it provides as well as the atmosphere/storyline which is the selling point. [/quote'] wait a minute ... comparing halo and doom 3 ... no no no ... Doom 3 is an unbeleivable game for the simple fact that ID did exactly what they said they were going to do. They said they were gonna make a new doom game with updated graphics and an atmosphere that could now do doom justice. I'm sick of this it's not technically sound or the gameplay isn't anything new arguement. Doom 3 wasn't meant to have shocking new gameplay, it plays exactly like the old doom games did, and lets face it why change classic game play, I mean c'mon if you didn't like the original doom or doom 2 you're either a liar or a heathen. Adrian M #28 Posted August 11, 2004 Doom 3 wasn't meant to have shocking new gameplay, it plays exactly like the old doom games did, Last I checked, the previous Doom games did not allow you full 360 degree 3D movement. By your logic, Doom3 is more of a successor to Quake's style of gameplay.

God forbid Microsoft and Bungie go out of their way to offer their fans a cool little collectable. If it were Nintendo offering a LE metal case for their upcoming Zelda game, everyone here would be all over it.

Adrian M #32 Posted August 11, 2004 It's a box. A box. A box. You're getting excited over a box. Yes, but it's a metal case, not just any box! And....you get a "Making of" dvd with it! Microsoft loves us!
HawgWyld #33 Posted August 11, 2004 Honestly, I hope your getting paid for posting pro-MS stuff constantly. If you're not, that's just sad.

Jasoco #36 Posted August 11, 2004 I don't care what the metal box is, I like that Bungie is giving us something extra. I don't care if it's a tin, or a box, or a case, it's something DIFFERENT. I like that. Something that will look nice on my shelf. Halo 2 is going to be great. I want a box that goes with it. Can someone please somehow SOMEHOW take pictures of this so called "Metal DVD Case" from many angles opened and closed so we can stop arguing about something so stupid. wait a minute ... comparing halo and doom 3 ... no no no ... "I couldn't do all this cool stuff back then, so now I'm gonna redo it right!"

Microsoft loves us! Do I need to restate my last post? Microsoft loves $$$$$, not us. Thats why they are producing OSs that crash more than crash dummies do, and, that is why they are encrypting the $100 OS so a household that has 4 comps that all run Win95 off the same disc now has to pay $400. Bungie loves us, but I still dont think an overgrown Altoids/Sucretes tin is worth $5. , but thats just me. Unfortunately this LE wont be available to Albuquerque gamers, because of the ban on metal....... What? That has come up in the post about the slot machines, and I still dont get it. Albuquerque didnt ban metal.

My personal experience is that the software industry in general is headed towards the licensing model anyways. Can't really fault Microsoft for doing that with Windows! Jasoco #41 Posted August 11, 2004 Fortunately, the company that makes my OS doesn't require you to enter a 25~ digit serial code every time you install.
PuddWakkr #42 Posted August 12, 2004 *insert generic insult in Adrian M.'s direction so I too can be part of the in crowd* I really don't care about the packaging as long as the game itself is tight I will be pleased, but I think it's nice that MS is giving us something different. I only wish they would throw some of the Limited Edition Xboxes to the US as well. ( darn jap's don't even like the console but they get all the frills )
