Stingray #1 Posted August 9, 2004 Okay, I'm totally new to the whole Gameboy experience. The last time I played a Gameboy it was one of the original black & white bricks (and it wasn't mine). So far I've got Super Mario Advance, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, & Metroid Fusion. I'm thoroughly enjoying all three games, but just wanted some feedback on other Gameboy titles to watch out for. They don't necessarily have to be GBA only, since this is my first GB, any good game that will play in it is worth considering as far as I'm concerned. So what are the best GB carts out there? -S

+kisrael #3 Posted August 9, 2004 Good list. I'd add in "Wario Ware"
Raijin Z #4 Posted August 9, 2004 Unless you have somebody to play with, most GBA games are a waste of money.

joeybastard #6 Posted August 9, 2004 I love my GBA and like pretty much everything I've bought for it although admittedly that isn't much. Based on what I have here's what I'd recommend: Wario Ware Metroid Fusion Konami Advanced Namco Museum Game & Watch Gallery 4 Super Monkey Ball Jr. Advance Wars
Stingray #7 Posted August 9, 2004 Unless you have somebody to play with, most GBA games are a waste of money. I don't think I'm following you here. -S
pmpddytim #8 Posted August 9, 2004 Unless you have somebody to play with, most GBA games are a waste of money. Agreed. I've never played a gba game with someone else. I have over 20 gba games and don't think Ive wasted any money at all. The multiplayer modes of games just dont appeal to me. I think the console has tons of solid one plater titles many of which were listed above. -Tim
pmpddytim #9 Posted August 9, 2004 I also play activision anthology a lot when I'm on the go. -Tim
Stingray #10 Posted August 9, 2004 Being that my last new Nintendo system was my SNES, my diet had become dangerously deficient in Mario & Metroid. As I already said I've already gotten Super Mario Advantage, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Metroid Fusion. I'm thinking my next GBA purchase will be either Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga or Metroid Zero Mission, unless someone suggests something that appeals more. Also, as I said, I have no porblem with classic GB & GB Color titles. Looks like pretty much everyone is suggesting GBA games. What are some good classic Gamboy games that I should think about picking up? I saw a Metal Gear cart at a local game shop (I think it was a Gameboy Color cart) is this one any good? -S
Stingray #11 Posted August 9, 2004 Oh and how about Mega Man? Any good MM games for GB? -S
Avid Fan #12 Posted August 9, 2004 Wait for the Megaman collection cart. It has all of the old-school Gameboy Megaman games on it. I'll second X-Men and Metroid: Zero Mission Mario Kart is great, loads better than the SNES version Donkey Kong 94 is great Tetris of course, but be sure its the old B&W one I recently got hooked on Tony Hawk 2, for GBA, its the only Tony Hawk game I've played. Super Mario Land 1 & 2 are good There's a lot out there. However, see if you can play the games first, since GB games are a bit pricey. Thats why I love emulation
Raijin Z #13 Posted August 9, 2004 Megaman Battle Network games are pretty fun, if you like the pseudo-action RPG style. Metal Gear for GBC is terrible. It's almost like playing Metal Gear 1 with 1/3rd of the area of mobility. Or something. I bought it and GAVE IT AWAY. I could have sold it easily, but I wanted to be RID of it. The GBA games I like are the ones with the oft-forgotten thing called replay value... The ones you don't put away for a year. Mario Kart is okay for this, there's plenty of crap to unlock... but multiplayer is AWFUL without multiple cartridges!
Stingray #14 Posted August 9, 2004 Wait for the Megaman collection cart. It has all of the old-school Gameboy Megaman games on it. I didn't know that was coming out on the GBA. That will be a must buy when available. Any release date yet? I'll pick up DK94 first time I see it available. -S
Stingray #15 Posted August 9, 2004 Metal Gear for GBC is terrible. It's almost like playing Metal Gear 1 with 1/3rd of the area of mobility. Or something. I bought it and GAVE IT AWAY. I could have sold it easily, but I wanted to be RID of it. Thanks, I'll give that one a miss then. -S
joeybastard #16 Posted August 9, 2004 Ooops... forgot about Activision Anthology, it is a great addition to the GBA library. Playing Pressure Cooker on the train to work is one of my great joys in life.
Raijin Z #17 Posted August 9, 2004 Megaman on an LCD screen with lower vertical resolution is not my idea of a faithful recreation of a classic gaming legend. I suppose if it doesn't bug you, go for it, though. It -is- Megaman 1-6, plus random extra junk, I hear.
Stingray #18 Posted August 9, 2004 Joey- Sounds like all of the arcade collections are worth picking up, at least in your book. I'll add those to my list of titles to get. Raijin- I suppose that the Megaman collection may not be 100% true to the originals, but since I have all of the original NES carts, I can play the "real versions" any time I like. Still the thought of portable Megaman is too good to pass up. I'll buy this cart the day it hits the shelves. -S
Rocko #19 Posted August 9, 2004 Good list. I'd add in "Wario Ware" Me too.

128bytes #21 Posted August 9, 2004 I actually LIKE Madden 2003 on the GBA. Activision Anthology is my favorite, though...

shep #23 Posted August 9, 2004 Although it didn't earn the best of reviews, I enjoy Gradius Galaxies from time to time. Playing through it really helps to pass the time on a long road trip. Cybergoth got it right reccomending Mario and Luigi: The Superstar Saga...excellent game with plenty of humor!
RavenOne #24 Posted August 9, 2004 If you liked FF Tactics Advanced, may I reccomend Shining Force and Sword of mana , both of them are great games. I love my GBA , even if alot of the games are rehashes of old SNES games, but you know, what's kewler than having a portable SNES
jr2084 #25 Posted August 9, 2004 I recommend Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon. I played through it a few times and I still pick it up occasionally.
