Atari Classics compilation coming to DS

Recommended Posts

Jesus.

As if we need yet another version of this.

I thought the DS was supposed to bring untold amounts of originality and new concepts to gaming?

OOoooo...wireless Multiplayer Warlords would be the coolest friggin' thing to happen to a handheld since...I don't know..So maybe I am over exaggerating. But that would be uber-cool....also touch-screen breakout ain't a bad idea

And there is going to be a Snowboard Kids(fun times on the N64), and well, still nothing too appealing to me...Castlevania, Secret of Mana, NFSU, all nice, but they better use the touch-screen in an innovative way or it's just going to be another gimmicky thing(E-reader).....I'm still going to buy a DS launch day or a few days after, but I am not seeing anything too up-my-alley yet....But there is always good stuff on Nintendo handhelds, so I am somewhat reassured

What good will two screens do for old arcade games? Even stuff with a tall screen like Galaga and company would be royally fucked up if you split the screen in the middle like the DS does.

It will probably be somthing lame like you get to see the box/cab art on the lower screen while your playing. WOOOOO DOGGY!!!

Oh yeah, SUPAR GAEMBOY OUT LOUD. Who needs to do anything with that extra real estate? Just slap some distracting crap into it and call it an enhanced gameplay addition.

High score table? I don't know how powerful wifi is, but it'd be cool to see a high score table that's constantly updating the top 10 or whatever, with your top score listed.

Hot damn, you're right! That would be pretty cool if it's feasible

I'm excited about the upcoming titles. I never played goldeneye, and now it looks like I will. And using the touchscreen for Atari will be great, the version for GBA sucked fat ones

Nintendo has said this before, and I have said this before in the defense of the Virtual Boy. Not every game has to take advantage of the consoles unique abilities. I want as many games as possible on the DS.

I bought this magazine "Games" from the UK, and it was the first E3 roundup article I've seen that actually lavished praise on the PSP and heaped scorn upon the DS, saying the crowd wasn't really into it, whatshisname the PR guy embarassed himself, etc. I mean, EGM had a "developer interest roundup" where most of the developers expressed interest in the DS but they still predicted the PSP would sell better, but that's just EGM.

So yes, the answer is that there really are people who just want the DS to fail. Just as Sony has dominated the console market for almost the last decade, Nintendo's had an even tighter grip on the portable market for almost 15 years, and a lot of people would like to see them stumble with the DS. Of course, a lot of them are just Sony and Microsoft fanboys too, but you can't deny Nintendo's stranglehold on the portable market has led them to innovate.... if not for the PSP, it probably would have been a couple more years before we got a 3D-capable Gameboy out of Nintendo.

As for Atari Classics, I expect it'll be more of the same but with better emulation (and maybe the vector games will benefit from antialiasing, etc.) There's no reason the analog games couldn't be emulated and still use a novel control mechanism (a virtual rotary controller or trackball, for instance.)

Very recently announced.  I wonder if they'll devise new ways to play or anything.

I always thought touchscreen Breakout would be cool.  Or how about wireless multiplayer Warlords?

How did they pull keypad functions on consoles anyway? Intellivision lives is coming to Cube soon and it's got me wondering..

"How about Intellivision Lives! for the Nintendo DS, to make use of the new touchpad to mimic the Intellivision keypad?"

You should email the The Blue Sky Rangers with your idea, it sounds like a excellent idea to me. Would make buying a DS worth it to buy (Though too bad there isn't a analog stick like the PSP to simulate the 16 direction control of the original).

SCREW Need for Speed Underground! I want an NFS Hot Pursuit for a Nintendo system that DOESN'T suck. Damn them and their shitty Cube/Box ports of HP2. A portable version of the original would be awesome as well.

NO MORE UNDERGROUND SHIT.

Really?! Awesome, do you have a link to a press release or something? I bought it for the PC years ago but I'd love it on the cube :D
