Ralph3 #1 Posted August 13, 2004 Were most of these games found in a sewer?!?!? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8124469015&rd=
+-^CrossBow^- #2 Posted August 13, 2004 Maybe you find them in better shape more often. But that lot of carts actually looks about how most of the carts I find in the wild look. I once bought a box full of atari stuff at the flea market that had over 80 games in it. Only cost me 10 bucks...but sadly many of those games looked just like those, and some were worse with actual mold on the labels! I was able to clean most of them up pretty good, but you could never get the smell off of them... I kept most of them, and some have been used for their cases in other projects... Still, the label conditions of many of those Ugly labeled carts I have seen many many times myself here. Still, if a cart if of something you need and you haven't seen it in a very long time, you would be likely as I am to pick it up all the same just to have the title at last. SpendTooMuchOnAtari #3 Posted August 13, 2004 It's funny, the Cosmic Swarm and Marine Wars actually don't look too bad and those are usually some of the worst.
keilbaca #4 Posted August 13, 2004 Unfortunately some of mine are not THAT bad but they aren't mint condition either... but wow... yeah thats bad.
Adonick #5 Posted August 13, 2004 I don't know where you guys find your games but some of the better ones in that lot are the average ones I find.
candiru #6 Posted August 13, 2004 Maybe going across the state to St. Louis makes a difference? Granted, some of those are real dogs, but for the most part they're pretty average compared to what I find. My standards for wild finds aren't particularly high, but I do love to find a batch of games where you can tell someone actually took care of their stuff. I still don't have Popeye or Crystal Castles (the only R2s I still need) because the only copies I've ever found were absolutely trashed and still overpriced. AtariLeaf #7 Posted August 13, 2004 Definitely looks like water damage. Maybe he had a flooded basement. At least he seems to mention the ones that he can't get to work.
candiru #8 Posted August 13, 2004 ooh, I take that back, I hadn't been looking at the supersize pictures, a lot of them are worse than average.
EricDeLee #9 Posted August 13, 2004 Well... for playing ... as long as they work and it is missing from my collection, I'd buy it THEN I'd look for a better label version.
bcprs1 #10 Posted August 13, 2004 I think there comes a point where a cart is so ugly and nasty that ever I wouldn't want it. I can stand ripped labels, but mold and dirt is too much.
Mindfield #11 Posted August 14, 2004 German imports? Odd lot to include considering they're PAL. But yes, some of those are stomach-churningly fugly, and may even give me indigestion just from looking at them. Those Fox games and some of the silver Ataris, though ... they'd probably appreciate in value with the labels removed...
jetset #12 Posted August 14, 2004 What I wonder is are these bidders on dope? I mean, given the condition of the carts, and the commonality of about 90% of them, not 20 hours into a 7 day auction the high bid is more than I'd pay....Im putting this opn my watch list just to see where it ends. Cobra Commander #13 Posted August 14, 2004 I wouldnt play those on my enemies atari. you can tell wich ones were on the bottom of the box (water) and the ones on top (chewed by a rat or mouse they love paper).
