Cybergoth #1 Posted August 14, 2004 Hi there! Ok, so here are the winners of the first 4 polls, ready for a final 14 days run! Greetings, Manuel

Troy_Whelan #3 Posted August 15, 2004 Shouldn't one of those entries be 'Wizard of Wor / Gorf'? Troy
Cybergoth #4 Posted August 15, 2004 Hi there! Shouldn't one of those entries be 'Wizard of Wor / Gorf'? I'm not sure. I just copied'n'pasted the list Eduardo sent me. Greetings, Manuel
Troy_Whelan #5 Posted August 15, 2004 Hi there! Shouldn't one of those entries be 'Wizard of Wor / Gorf'? I'm not sure. I just copied'n'pasted the list Eduardo sent me. Greetings, Manuel I was referring to the original entries that we voted on in poll #1 as listed below. Which of these should get ported to the Colecovision? Moon Patrol 11% [ 7 ] Bosconian 8% [ 5 ] Mappy 11% [ 7 ] Pengo 11% [ 7 ] Crush Roller 3% [ 2 ] Wizard of Wor/Gorf 20% [ 12 ] Galaga 13% [ 8 ] Elevator Action 18% [ 11 ]
SS #6 Posted August 15, 2004 I was referring to the original entries that we voted on in poll #1 Good point. I am still weighing my vote because I really hope to purchase the game that comes out on top. A WOW/GORF combo cart may tip the scales.
+opcode #7 Posted August 15, 2004 Hi! Hmm... I figured the WoW/Gorf combo just doesn't make sense, from a practical point of view. I mean, DK Jr is the follow up for DK, and both share a lot of code. Tron and Disks of Tron don't share a significant amount of code, but both are based on the same theme (movie). Now, Gorf and WoW just share the same hardware, but don't share code or theme. Creating a combo like that would mean maybe 2 years of hard work, which I just think isn't too practical. I still can go with the originally listed combo, but just keep in mind it will require a lot of extra time to complete... Eduardo

I was only asking because I thought it was an oversight in the new poll. Your point is well taken, and it makes sense. I don't think any of us want to wait 2 years to get a WoW/Gorf combo, so let's stick with the current poll and the Wizard of Wor listing without Gorf. Although I am hoping for Wizard of Wor to win, I would be pleased with any of the games in the current poll! Troy
Jess Ragan #9 Posted August 16, 2004 My suggestion? Offer Wizard of Wor along with another, more simple Midway arcade game, like Space Zap. Even better, add some extra game modes. I imagine that an Eat 'n Run mode would work really well with Wizard of Wor... have the characters come out of their spawning points to collect diamonds or other bonus items, all while blasting the enemies patrolling the maze. The more diamonds they can collect before they return to the starting point, the more points they'll get... but if they get blasted first, they lose it all. Perhaps some new cooperative and competitive modes would lengthen the replay value even more and make up for the lack of an additional game on the cartridge. I'd like to see a Wizard of Wor game where you can actually play AS the Wizard, hunting down the other player. JR

Since I don't see a good companion game for WoW, I think some extra modes would help to make this one more interesting. Lets work on it...

raindog #12 Posted August 28, 2004 I didn't even see the original poll where WoW inexplicably beat Galaga (which I thought he was already working on anyway...)
Cybergoth #13 Posted August 28, 2004 Hi there! I didn't even see the original poll where WoW inexplicably beat Galaga (which I thought he was already working on anyway...) What do you mean with you "didn't see" it?!? It was a sticky for 30 days http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53928 Greetings, Manuel
raindog #14 Posted August 28, 2004 That explains it then, as I haven't browsed individual forums in about a year. While it may have been sticky, it was posted while I was on vacation and by the time I got back it wasn't on the first couple pages of "new since your last visit" anymore. MegaManFan #18 Posted August 29, 2004 I'm firmly convinced the Wizard of Wor on MA2 will be definitive. Sound, voices, everything. As such if I had a vote I +definitely+ would have picked something else.

+opcode #20 Posted August 29, 2004 It might be because I just woke up, but what is the MA2? -mike Midway Arcade Treasures 2, I suppose. Let's hope Midway doesn't go under before MAT2 get released... which seems to be happening with Acclaim right now...

MegaManFan #22 Posted August 29, 2004 I didn't see the thread until last night, so no. Besides which for at least 5 of those 14 days, I was in San Jose on vacation. So no I didn't have a vote in it, and can't now since it's closed.

MegaManFan #24 Posted August 30, 2004 Usually in an election, the vote is advertised widely so you know when it's going to be and you DON'T miss it. If I had known we were elected the next opcode conversion, you can bet I +would+ have voted. I love his work!
The Lurking Horror #25 Posted August 30, 2004 I didn't saw it until it was too late, too. But, oh well. Any game in that list will be a good choice.
