rogueleader #1 Posted August 20, 2004 Okay so now I am the proud owner of an X BOX. I will be getting on X Box live as well since I have a cable modem. My question is this, what games do you guys recomend for the xbox? Now before very other person says "Halo! Halo! Halo! You gotta get Halo! Whoo Hoo Halo!" I already know about that one. I have some friends who play it obsesively. So my question should be what games other than Halo do you recomend? I am especialy loking for golf games, racing games, and games that can be played on X Box Live. Thanks!
Jasoco #2 Posted August 20, 2004 OUTLAW GOLF IS THE KICK-ASS BOMB! GET IT! It's cheap at GameStop now. And a sequel is coming out soon. The way you swing the club is the most unique thing I've seen in a Golf game yet. I don't think Mario or even Hot Shots does this. Pull the stick back and WHIP it forward as hard as you can to get the ball to sail. And the ANNOUNCER! Damn. Steve Carrell is the best announcer you can ask for. GET IT NOW!! NE146 #3 Posted August 20, 2004 Outlaw Golf? Man just get Tiger Woods Golf Personally I've played my Tiger Woods Golf a TON of times a lot more than I ever played my Outlaw Golf. But yeah go for it if you want it, I'm just saying.....
rogueleader #4 Posted August 20, 2004 I've had Outlaw Golf for the Cube, is it much different on XBox?
Jasoco #5 Posted August 20, 2004 I've had Outlaw Golf for the Cube, is it much different on XBox?I dunno. Did you like it? Personally, I HATE real Golf. I'd rather play a fantasy Golf game. Mario, Outlaw, Hot Shots. All are fantasy type Golf games with strange characters. Tiger Woods is more of a real Golf game. I don't go in for that sort of thing.. not that there's anything wrong with that.
PuddWakkr #6 Posted August 20, 2004 Tiger Woods is the best golf game out there for the xbox. The 2005 version is supposed to be out in the middle of sept. so you can either get the newest one then or get the 2004 version cheap. Other sports games I've enjoyed.... Top Spin NBA Street Vol.2 NHL Hitz Racing Games... TOCA Race Driver 2 Project Gotham 2 Mcrae Rally
devils advocate #7 Posted August 20, 2004 I don't think it's fair to give TW's the reigning crown title for the Xbox. It really depends on the style you want. Outlaw golf is fun, if you want a complete arcade style experience, with little grip to reality, and overpronounced physics. Think Mario golf with different characters. No online support, if you are into Xbox live, I believe. My personal favorite is Links 2004. It is very sim like though. With difficiulty ranging from extremely easy to controller smashing difficult. The course selection is about half that of TW2004, but the courses are much more detailed than TW 2004. How they compare to 2005 is obviously yet to be seen first hand. The physics used are about as close to realistic as you get on CONSOLE golf games. Links on PC is even more sim like. The basic layout, etc is near TW2004. Less options for character customization, but more for player attributes. If you like online play, this is definately the one to buy. You can play four players simultaneously, with options for stroke play or speed stroke play. Most people online choose speed play. It makes the rounds much quicker, as you all stroke at the same time, while seeing your competitors balls (sick, i know LOL) as streaks of light on your screen. Great stuff. Tw 2004 probably has a slightly better career mode though, for 1 player. Tiger Woods golf is kind of in the middle of both. You can put spins on the ball that are not possible in real life, but the strokes are fairly accurate. The driving is crazy long, but it gives some sense of satisfaction to be able to drive a par 5 !LOL . It is a great game, with awesome customization of your player, piles of great courses and a good 2 player mode! Online support for the ps2 version was minimal, with only 2 players able to play at a time. Apparently,2005 will be the same on xbox live. Kind of dissapointing, in my opinion. I have had umpteen holes in ones on TW golf but only 2 in links. Maybe that sums up the differnce in the games. The layout and presentation in 2004TW is probably the best ever. The amount of courses are just awesome, but in turn the detail of course pales in comparison to links. I'm a golfing fanatic both in real life, and for gaming. Just my 2 cents worth. rogueleader #8 Posted August 21, 2004 Tiger Woods is the best golf game out there for the xbox. Top Spin NBA Street Vol.2 NHL Hitz Racing Games... TOCA Race Driver 2 Project Gotham 2 Mcrae Rally I won't be buying any Basketball games anytime soon. I can't stand basketball in any form. But some of the other sugestions look cool. I already bought Midnight Club as a racing game. It's pretty cool. Also I like Crimson Skys that came with my LIVE kit. Now if I can just get this stupid LIVE thing hooked up. They really need to work out a way that you don't have to spend an additional $60 on ethernet hubs and wires to hook it up. Major Havoc 2049 #10 Posted August 23, 2004 Ya, if you want a good online golf game for the Xbox, get Links 2004. Crimson Skies is a great game, online and offline. Project Gotham Racing 2 is also a great online and offline racer. I'll second what bruser_inc said about Panzer Dragoon Orta, Dead or Alive 3, House of the Dead 3 and Ninja Gaiden. If you want to wait for a new Xbox Live game, check out Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, Dead or Alive Ultimate, Outrun 2 and of course Halo 2. rogueleader #11 Posted August 24, 2004 I went out and got LInks 2004 and I think it's pretty good. Those of you that mentioned it, we should all get on XBOX live and have a game some time. I've also been playing Crimson Skys and I absolutely love it! Midnight Club II is pretty addicting as well.
