Modded ColecoVision A/V Outputs New BIOS Coleco Vision

Recommended Posts

I have a modded ColecoVision up for auction.  Modifications include gold-plated A/V outputs and an "Intro Skip" BIOS that allows you to skip the title screen on Coleco published games.

I purchased on of these from him recently, and it is definately worth the money! I already had 2 ColecoVision consoles, but sometimes the game screens would get fuzzy and have a lot of static after extended play. That simply does not happen with this modded ColecoVision! Also, the screen images are brighter with this console, which is very impressive with all games but also extremely useful with space games. A bonus feature for me was the new ability to connect this ColecoVision into my 6-game system selector instead of connecting to the back of the tv. On top of all that, it is really cool to play at night with no lights on and see the new lights coming out of the front of the modded console. 8) I highly recommend this to anyone considering a purchase! :)

I'm curious.... how would I go about modding my Colecovision with that bios chip. Are there instructions anywhere you could point me to?

There are instruction on the web site complete with the BIOS image for you to burn. The instruction isn't too clear on what to cut though and no picture so you'd be on your own: http://users.erols.com/tiltonj/games/tech/cveprom.html

I have tried but until I can find my EPROM burner, I can't even tell if I did my CV correctly.

That's the same web page I got the information from. Once you have the console taken apart, It becomes more clear which traces to cut. You really have to look at the bottom of the board to understand what is being described
