Robert M #1 Posted August 23, 2004 Hello, At a flea market on Saturday I saw a strange device. It was a plastic box about 4"x 6" x 1.5". It had 2 9-pin ports on one side which could take Atari 2600 style connectors. The other side has a foot long cable terminating in a plug that would fit into a 2600 port. It said "Wico Command Center" on it or something similiar. The vender wanted $15 for it, but didn't know what it was for or if it even worked. Has anyone on the board seen this item before? Do you know what it does? Is it worth $15? Thanks, Rob
Mot #2 Posted August 23, 2004 For some reason, Wico made a 5200 joystick with db -9 pin connector (like 2600) but was analog! Did this look like the one at the bottom of this page?:http://www.atariage.com/5200/archives/hardware.html
Robert M #3 Posted August 23, 2004 For some reason, Wico made a 5200 joystick with db -9 pin connector (like 2600) but was analog! Did this look like the one at the bottom of this page?:http://www.atariage.com/5200/archives/hardware.html No, that's not it. It had no stick, D-pad, or buttons. Just 2 ports to plug in 9 pin controllers, and a single 9 pin output to plug into a console/computer. The box was just beige with rounded corners. CPUWIZ #4 Posted August 23, 2004 Probably a Atari -> TI99/4A joystick adapter.
Robert M #5 Posted August 23, 2004 Probably a Atari -> TI99/4A joystick adapter. That rings a bell. I seem to remember seeing TI/4A on it now that you nmention it. Thanks!
Bruce Tomlin #6 Posted August 24, 2004 Probably a Atari -> TI99/4A joystick adapter. Yeah, I think I've seen one of those before. That's probably what it is, since TI managed to get two joysticks into a single 9-pin plug.
+RangerG #7 Posted August 24, 2004 Or - it could be the Wico TRS-80 adaptor (looks just like the TI one except for the pins at the end of the cord (the CoCo one is rounded).
Rob Mitchell #8 Posted August 28, 2004 Or - it could be the Wico TRS-80 adaptor (looks just like the TI one except for the pins at the end of the cord (the CoCo one is rounded). I have one of these if anyone is interested. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
SteveW #9 Posted August 28, 2004 I don't recall ever seeing the Wico TI-99/4A one being beige, but they might have gone with a new design for use with the beige 1983 TI Home Computers. I know that my version is black.
