99% are. You'll have problems with "New Zealand Story" and the Codemasters titles. AFAIK, almost everything else will play fine on a US system. Some of the best stuff was foreign release only, too.

Rainbow Islands

I've got a copy of that one. It's a great port of the game!

Dang, and NZ Story is one I wanted..

Hmmm ... now that I think about it a little more, "New Zealand Story" might be compatible with a US Genesis Power Base Converter even though it won't play on a regular SMS. I don't own a copy of it so I can't tell you for certain. Ask MegaManFan; I'm sure that he would know.

New Zealand Story does play correctly using a Power Base Convertor, but does not work on a regular Master System. It's the only import I own I have to play on a PBC to get it working properly - every other one is flawless.

What about the Master System II with the built-in Alex Kidd game?

So what about the Master Gear Convertor?

Sorry but I don't know the answer to either of these questions.

I do know that I absolutely hated the "Master Gear Converter", though. IMO, most MS games were almost impossible to see on the tiny, low-rez screen of the GameGear. Cool concept but very frustrating in practice. I ended up trading mine for a CIB 2600 "Road Runner" at PhillyClassic3.

Woo, my penchant for weird adapters and stupid addons has paid off. Now I don't have to seek out another genuine Master System. My Power Base Converter is superior overall!
