GrandviewCoin #1 Posted August 29, 2004 Are all Sega Master System games compatible with the U.S. Systems? So if I want to use European or Astralian carts I can? I heard this was possible, and need to know before I aquirre some of the more choice titles from over seas.. Daniel
SS #2 Posted August 29, 2004 Are all Sega Master System games compatible with the U.S. Systems? 99% are. You'll have problems with "New Zealand Story" and the Codemasters titles. AFAIK, almost everything else will play fine on a US system. Some of the best stuff was foreign release only, too.
GrandviewCoin #3 Posted August 29, 2004 Dang, and NZ Story is one I wanted.. Well at least Rainbow Islands & Bubble Bobble are good to go! Daniel;
SS #4 Posted August 29, 2004 Rainbow Islands I've got a copy of that one. It's a great port of the game!
SS #5 Posted August 29, 2004 Dang, and NZ Story is one I wanted.. Hmmm ... now that I think about it a little more, "New Zealand Story" might be compatible with a US Genesis Power Base Converter even though it won't play on a regular SMS. I don't own a copy of it so I can't tell you for certain. Ask MegaManFan; I'm sure that he would know.
MegaManFan #6 Posted August 29, 2004 New Zealand Story does play correctly using a Power Base Convertor, but does not work on a regular Master System. It's the only import I own I have to play on a PBC to get it working properly - every other one is flawless.
SS #7 Posted August 29, 2004 Told ya that MMF would know!
GrandviewCoin #8 Posted August 29, 2004 So what about the Master Gear Convertor? Aha!
snorlaxnut #9 Posted August 29, 2004 New Zealand Story does play correctly using a Power Base Convertor, but does not work on a regular Master System. What about the Master System II with the built-in Alex Kidd game?
SS #10 Posted August 30, 2004 So what about the Master Gear Convertor? What about the Master System II with the built-in Alex Kidd game? Sorry but I don't know the answer to either of these questions. I do know that I absolutely hated the "Master Gear Converter", though. IMO, most MS games were almost impossible to see on the tiny, low-rez screen of the GameGear. Cool concept but very frustrating in practice. I ended up trading mine for a CIB 2600 "Road Runner" at PhillyClassic3.
MegaManFan #11 Posted August 30, 2004 And definitely, SS got the better end of that deal!
ubersaurus #12 Posted August 30, 2004 I dunno, Zillion is great on the game gear convertor. But then, Zillion is just great in general.
Raijin Z #13 Posted August 30, 2004 Woo, my penchant for weird adapters and stupid addons has paid off. Now I don't have to seek out another genuine Master System. My Power Base Converter is superior overall!
