Silver Hangman ( ebay what the deal)

Recommended Posts

Well the mention how the label varation isnt even listed on Atariage.com. saying its as rare as it gets. i remember 2 years ago talking about this same thing. and people said i was too into varations. but here it is again and now someone thinks they will get between 69 and 89 on the game. it wouldnt suprise me if noone bids cause i got mine for .50 heres the auction so that you all know what im talking about

if i remember its also on my website www.angelfire.com/nj2/atari/rare.html

its not mine for sale but it is the first one ive seen other than mine forsale. maybe we should have this on our 2600 list of rarities. i dont think it would be much rarer than the normal copy

It's hard to see, but it looks like it has a 1986 copyright date, and the label definitely looks gray rather than silver, which would peg it as a post-crash, Junior-era re-release.

This is my auction. This label variation of Hangman is very rare. I see far fewer of these than I do the silver Gravitar and that is how I priced this. I don't think that there is any question that the label is rare. It has to be one of the rarest label variations out there.

And while you are checking out this auction take a look at my other auctions. I have several rare 2600 titles listed right now and some games for other systems as well. There obviously is some interest in this auction because I have several people watching the Hangman auction and this was before this message was even posted on here.

While it certainly is uncommon, I don't think it's as rare as a game like Waterworld which you have listed at the same price. I found mine on ebay.ca in a large lot of games. Fun With Numbers picture label seems to pop up about as often as the Grey Hangman and I never see that one sell for much over $20. If your cart does sell at or near that price, I'll definitely be upgrading my personal rarity list from a 6 to a 9 though. :D

On the flip side, I'm very surprised your boxed Mean 18 is still available. That's a great price for a complete Mean 18 which is one of the hardest titles to pick up for the 7800 IMO.

You are correct.

You may be right about the rarity; I've had my eye out for one since the topic first popped up here. However, this one just doesn’t get the press that some of the other label variations do and "Hangman" just isn't that sought after (or interesting) to begin with. Personally, I wouldn't be willing to spend more than $10 or $15 for this one. It is an interesting variation though.

Do you have one yet? As of last year you didn't have it in your collection and I don't think that Rick or Tony had one either. To me that is pretty rare.

I could have had at least 10 of them for less than $20 but I don't want it without the box and manual. :D

I would definitely be interested in one of these. I'd want it complete in box. Since it looks to be a 5 language box, is it easier to get overseas? I can't afford to buy it, though I have a ton of trade items. I'm still working on my sale list since I sort of finished my variation label list last week.

Let me know if anyone has one.

Phil
