Does anyone have a list of what games are in the European 32-in-1 cart that Atari made as a pack-in in the late 80s? I got one and don't recognize all the games in it.

Out of interest how did the come about the licence for the Activision games? I know that the logos were removed, so was that enough for them not having to pay royalties?

AFAIK the 32in1 was a pirate cart. E.g. instead of proper PAL versions many games are just hacked NTSC versions. They probably didn't care for any licences at all.

Yes, pack in with the Jr. her in Germany.

 

Fishing Derby & Freeway appear both 2 times on the cartridge. But both a bi different. Freeway chicken & rabbits, Fishing Derby fish & crabs.

Atari surely payed royalties then, right? Activision wouldn't have put up with such blatent copyright infringment. It was one of the last releases... Was it packed with single chip juniors then?

Not sure where it came originally from. But I know you can find many in germany. And I have buy complete sets from Atari Jr. on ebay.de with this cart. And it came always with german manuals. I don't think in Australia they speak german.

So I am sure they were sold in germany too.

 

The Ultra-Rare boxed ones (without Atari Jr.) can only be found in UK I think. Not 100% sure, but mine has a english manual in there and no german. Buy on ebay.de, but I am sure it was an import.

 

The 32 in 1 cartridge from Atari are official releases. They have nothing to do with the pirated Multi-carts, which can be found in Australia, Brazil, Germany or many other countries.

As a matter of fact, 50% or more of those are so badly hacked that they're barely "playable".

 

About the license, I agree, I bet whatever you want they didn't pay a buck. First thing, what is patented in one country (the USA in this case) is not necessarily patented in another. Secondarily, they probably used some legal "wording" to escape the laws.

 

Activision was releasing the famous "International Editions" back then. The crap in the 32in1 ain't "International" for sure - it's just an awful hack of the USA edition. That may have been enough to escape the copyright laws in the eighties. Don't know, just guessing...

32-in-1 only came out as PAL, but was an offical release. I've even seen 32-in-1 carts with the label stuck over a red label that says 16-in-1... anyone any clues?

 

It's odd how they did have end labels too...

Dude, there has been a 16-in-1 thread recently if I remember well (didn't join, since I had zero clue on the topic). Did you see that one? Maybe the guys wrote something interesting there...

yeah that is right we do have these here in australia here are some pics they also got very lazy when they released the 7800 and just stuck a yellow label over the top of the green one and released it with some 7800's.
