AtariAger #1 Posted September 3, 2004 Thought it was pretty cool... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWN:IT
SS #2 Posted September 3, 2004 Yeah. Those are pretty sweet. GameBoy Lights were only released in Japan, unfortunately. They're pretty much a GameBoy Pocket with a backlight so they will only play the B&W titles. They used to sell for some good $$$ but since the SP was released the demand / interest for them has drastically fallen. I'd still like to pick one up one of these days though. Radio F Software #3 Posted September 3, 2004 I NEVER knew they made these before. Too bad it was Japan-only. I was TICKED because my GBA, and both GBs didnt have a backlight.
AtariAger #4 Posted September 3, 2004 Yeah...I was unaware of these systems also...Did they ever make a backlit Gameboy Color?
SS #5 Posted September 3, 2004 Did they ever make a backlit Gameboy Color? I don't think so. Here's a good page that shows many (all???) of the numerous GameBoy variations that have been released over the years : http://www.imgcab.com/gameboy/gameboy0.html

I do remember seeing a special Gameboy Advance (not an SP) that was lit before the SP came out. It was from Japan and the store that had it wanted $$$ for it. Vic George 2K3 #7 Posted September 5, 2004 Either it was shrewd marketing on Nintendo's part to keep the Gameboy Light domestic (i.e., in Japan) or just plain lame.
Susuwatari #8 Posted September 5, 2004 Keep in mind those Gameboy Light uses Indiglo and that only lasts so long before it becomes dimmer permantly. Something like 600-700 hours before it's not useable.

NintendoDieScreaming #10 Posted September 7, 2004 I seem to remember these being at a Toys R Us some long time ago.... I remember the box not being in English, so chances are that acutally WAS what I saw, like I care, though . The only Nintendo system I ever owned (EVER.) was a Limited Edition Ice-Blue GameBoy Pocket. However, it has been long and gone since .
thx1138 #11 Posted September 7, 2004 I want one! When I bought my GBA, I was so excited. I got it home, excitment faded to disappointment. My eyes, damn, my eyes, they hurt - I can't see the damn games!!! Took it back to the store,(who offered no quiblle refunds) for a full refund within hours. Never had the money for a GBA SP since then.
sega saturn x #12 Posted September 12, 2004 They why would you buy that? Factor is pretty high since the gb sp is better.
AtariDude #13 Posted September 14, 2004 I sold my GBA once the GBA SP came out. The system was such a problem unless I was in a well lit room. Don't have that problem with my SP. I was not aware that Nintendo has a light version of its original Gameboy. Too bad that it gets dim after 700 hours of use.
donkeykong1 #14 Posted September 14, 2004 That would be cool to add to my collection.

I saw one a while later at a used games store for $15, and now I wish I got it, since I can see it being worth something in the uture
