Apparently they've been losing to Barcelona lately.

The team is called l'Olympique Lyonnais (“OL”) and its Web site has an online shop where you can even buy a replica of the team shirt sporting the Atari name and logo! To see it, just head over to http://boutique.olympiquelyonnais.com/boutiqueol/, then activate the “Proline Replica” button on the left, then scroll down to the product marked “MAILLOT THIRD Gris”. The site is in French, but the photo should be easily understood.

I think Atari is only the shirt sponsor for Olympique Lyonnais for their matches in the European competions. This Year OL is playing in the champions league. This league is made up of last year's champions of the national leagues plus some runner-ups from the bigger leagues. So OL has to be quite good to get in there.

But even though there still is one game left for them in the first champions league round, OL has lost too often to qualify for the next round. So we probably won't see the Atari logo on their shirts too often anymore this season.

Yikes! At the current exchange, that shirt costs $67! (And I think that's before S&H, which will probably be an extra $15 to the U.S.)

I don't doubt that it's fashionable and well designed (it's from France after all), but what the hell is it made of that makes it cost so darn much?! Or was it designed by Jean-Paul Gautier or some other famed designer?

It would be a way keen and cool shirt to wear in the rave/party club scene. (Imagine how cool you would be explaining to the girls that it's the same kind of shirt worn by a French soccer team, designed by Jean-Paul, and cost $100 to import. )

I just wish I could afford it/justify buying one to have the bragging rights.

Maybe AtariAge.com could import a load of these and sell them for a small profit to fund the site? I'd certainly buy one. These shirts could definitely be tres geek chic for the U.S. market.

It's made of licensing and franchising fees.

I am a huge soccer fan and have seen many international games live. They absolutely kill you with uniform costs. That is a pretty average price to pay and get this they change there home and away kits about every six months. Of course you have to have the new and improved ones or you are not cool. They make a fortune.
