Got a machine this weekend with a really dead pcb. I think no life signs counts as a dead one, eh

If you're willing to part with the really broken board (as long as the board is intact, no broken bits etc), i'd be happy to take it of your hands. I've been looking for a good project.

Thanks for the advice. RGVAC is always a great place to start.

 

I am friends with the fella that does http://users.erols.com/mowerman/pacfile.htm and generally can handle my board repairs. This one has been exposed to the elements for some time, and I cannot seem to justify resocketing everything on it. First few chips I did, and the traces lifted right off the board.

 

At this point, the onboard regulator is gone, and that is 18 bucks. All the masked ROMS need replacing (thats cheap enough, but takes time), at least one bad 74LS75, a broken color prom, and the list goes on. I can trade the whole thing out for ~100 on exchange, so that might be the way to go.

 

Picked up a Frogger, the Ms. Pac and a Crazy Kong dedicated this past week. The Frogger is almost restored (CPO, bezel, side art, new cabinet top, speaker piece, kickplate, switcher, recap, light, etc), Kong is ready to roll, and now its time to turn to on Ms. Pac. I had never seen one in this shape before; all original, no retouch of any kind. 40000 plays, almost no side wear, no tears on the CPO (not even scratches), monitor is acting wierd and the board is bad. I can handle that over having to buy new sideart for that one, too!

Yes, Kev's very good and a good guy besides. I occasionally do repairs myself but I'm way backed up at the moment. I ususally do exchanges, 3 bad for 1 good, I'm all out of the goods until I get some time to work on them. All I have at the moment is bootlegs and the pins are different.

 

Be careful on an exchange if your board is really bad. Some of the big places(I won't mention any names) can decide your board is not worth exchanging and charge you extra.

This seller always sells tested/working Pac-Man (and Ms Pac-man) PCBs on eBay.

He does offer a non-working board exchange credit and has a great track record.
