liveinabin #1 Posted September 14, 2004 Anyone else here picked this up? After LOVING Burnout 2 on the GC, I bought an Xbox especially to play this and, I must say, I'm having a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. Plus side - awesome graphics, ridiculous speeds and loads to do. Nice being able to put your own soundtrack in also, love that On the down sides - Crash mode is now little more than hitting tokens. I also really miss not being able to chain Burnouts and the two player mode....WHY?! On a widescreen TV, it now splits the screen horizontally, so both players have a very long, very thin view. GC B2 used to split vertically if you were set to widescreen mode. It's totally killed multiplayer for me and my wife. Oh yeah, and no race replays. At all. Even Ridge Racer 1 could manage a race replay. Oh god, I almost forgot, no rain, no snow, no night. Bloody hell, there must be SOMETHING good about this game because I've been playing it non-stop for a day now! Perhaps it's the challenge. I'm having to invent new swearwords as the old one's just don't cut it any more.
Radio F Software #2 Posted September 14, 2004 I've been looking to pick this game up since I read about it a long while ago. Are there lots of cool cars to unlock?
liquid_sky #3 Posted September 14, 2004 I am loving the fuck out of burnout 3.. Gotta love road rage races.. lack of replay and too many multiplier tokens in crash mode makes it a bit too easy but impact time and aftertouch takedowns make up for my dissapointment although slight
Radio F Software #4 Posted September 14, 2004 I just like seeing stuff explode. That's why I make BattleBots aside from Atari 2600 stuff. XD
liquid_sky #5 Posted September 14, 2004 well by all means check burnout 3 out.. amazing particle physics
Artlover #6 Posted September 15, 2004 I absolutly despise how they implimented doing a slide manuver. Ain't these people ever heard of a parking brake? Even the crappier racers get this part right. I agree that crash mode got lame with the token crap. Beyond that, I love it.
Cobra Commander #7 Posted September 16, 2004 Played a demo at the store I'll wait till everybody sells theirs and get it next year for $12.

I love that! It feels like SEGA Rally! I hate the soundtrack and DJ, and the stupid Heartbreaker "bonus" in Crash Mode. Other than that, everything is amazing. moycon #9 Posted September 16, 2004 I hate the soundtrack and DJ I was told you can play your own tunes. Is this not correct?
PaulEMoz #10 Posted September 16, 2004 I hate the soundtrack and DJ I was told you can play your own tunes. Is this not correct? Well, it is if you've got an XBox. I haven't.
z28in82 #11 Posted September 16, 2004 I hate the soundtrack and DJ, . Easy solution turn down the volume just like I do But I have been playin the piss outa this game, never got intot he burnout series B4 this one so I may seem a lil nieve but it is alot of fun especially the takeout races. I would call this one of the top 5 series of racers I have played. Plus I'm a sucker for wrecks
Clock #12 Posted September 16, 2004 How does it play online?

PuddWakkr #14 Posted September 18, 2004 Why do I have to unlock the crash modes in the world tour this is utterly stupid. All I want this game for is the crash modes, looks like I'll be downloading a game save

All I want this game for is the crash modes, looks like I'll be downloading a game save You had to unlock Crash modes in Burnout 2 as well. They're not hard to unlock, and you're going to be playing them anyway, so what's the problem?
shining slade #16 Posted September 18, 2004 I just like seeing stuff explode. That's why I make BattleBots aside from Atari 2600 stuff. XD Well, you'll like the fact that you can detonate your car in Crash mode then! I love this game also...except for a few minor things. They have now made the cash in crash mode more realistic, so instead of me being able to get 88 million in crash money on BO2, Now it's kind of hard to even break 2 million. However there are 100 crash junctions overall that can be unlocked There are 67 different vehicles to unlock; everything from a formula racer to a firetruck! The Road Rage mode is awesomely fun! Graphically this game is sweet. It is very easy to unlock stuff when you first start out, but I've been told that it gets harder to unlock stuff later in the game. I too would like it better if it had the weather elements in it, but there are some scenes that have snow on the ground. Overall it rocks, but I think I'll still hang on to BO2. I'm still trying to break 100 million in the crash mode on that

They're not hard to unlock, and you're going to be playing them anyway, so what's the problem? I was under the impression that I had to finish a continent completely before unlocking the next. I didn't want to have to do all the race modes in the US before moving on to europe. Now that I've given it more time I see you don't have to, europe crash modes unlock after the us ones are done. Not that bad although I hate that stupid announcer.
liveinabin #18 Posted September 18, 2004 I don't mind him that much, sometime's he's even genuinely funny (only sometimes). I'm making my peace with B3 now, I accept that it cheats like no other game and, although I lament the mutliplayer split screen problem, I'm loving it. That jungle stage is just awesome! I've stuck a bunch of Ridge Racer 4 music on the Xbox HD and it's really adding to the B3 experience Right, gotta go find a way to slam two racers into oncoming buses in a single race - what a wonderful way to spend an evening
+Cafeman #19 Posted September 19, 2004 I've been playing this on PS2. I just realized tonight, it doesn't recognize a PSX controller in port 2 like many PS2 games do. I need to get a 2nd dual shock for multi-player!

Yes, 3rd party controllers are not good for PlayStation's (1 or 2), unless they are fully licensed and sanctioned by Sony.
+Cafeman #24 Posted September 19, 2004 Agreed. I'm not fooling around with 3rd party junk any more unless its a wheel. I'm getting a dual shock.
Raijin Z #25 Posted September 19, 2004 Yes, 3rd party controllers are not good for PlayStation's (1 or 2), unless they are fully licensed and sanctioned by Sony. I call bullshit. Don't blame Sony's shitty optical system manufacturing on unlicensed gamepads. Simple fucking electronics.
