khryssun #1 Posted October 30, 2001 As I said in a previous post, I've stopped the development of At-a-Venture (Adventure 2)for the VCS Simulator. The 5200 Adventure 2 project seems to be more advanced than mine... so I decided to suspend it for now. The good news : I'm workink at a new project that was spinning round in my head for some monthes. It's a port of an odyssey 2 game : Catapult with a lot of improvements. The game should be ready for christmas (I hope).
moycon #2 Posted October 30, 2001 My father and I used to have a ball playing Artillery Duel when I was a kid. That game is also similar to Catapult. I seem to recall years later my brother had a game on the pc. The graphics were simple and it was also basically Artillery Duel but you would win money to purchase things like shields and nuke bombs and parachutes...etc...etc.. Will yoy new game be anything like this??? That would be awesome. In any case. Good luck. Can't wait to give it a try.
Joel D. Park #3 Posted October 30, 2001 You going to do the game on the VCS simulator or the Real VCS. Last night I figured out how to make the Bat invisible on Adventure. So now the bat has become a poltergeist.. It should work out well in my undead Adventure. :-) hehe.

Yep, not exactly this way but a I think about a system of bonus and upgrade : Timed Shields, Massive destructive boulders, Magic Missiles... quote: Originally posted by Joel You going to do the game on the VCS simulator or the Real VCS. At first time I'm looking to complete the VCS Simulator version, but I'm seriously considering to program a lighter VCS version later. quote: Originally posted by Joel Last night I figured out how to make the Bat invisible on Adventure. I'm looking forward to play your game About my "suspended" version, regarding the bestiary, personnaly I had some problems with my dragons sprites. ubersaurus #5 Posted October 30, 2001 You are all discussing the qbasic Gorilla, or Scorched Earth. I think Gorilla could be done on the VCS without too much trouble.
StanJr #6 Posted October 30, 2001 I think he's talking about Scorched Earth! That game was a total gas. I loved that thing and played the crap out of it on PC until it developed a virus. I still have the disk and the stupid virus is lurking somewhere in there too. One day I'm going to erradicate that damn thing so I can play again. khryssun #7 Posted October 31, 2001 I'am talking of the port of this odyssey 2 game : Stone Sling http://www.zock.com/8-Bit/VP20.JPG
moycon #8 Posted October 31, 2001 Yep that was it!! Scorched Earth. The Mother of All Games. Heres a link I found: Mother of all Games It would be cool if some of the elements of this game could be added to the Atari version your working on. Also I had a question that went unanswered last week... Is the game Archon do-able on the 2600??? That would be to me the ultimate 2 player Atari game. If it could be done. Joel D. Park #9 Posted October 31, 2001 I used to play the heck out of scorced earth. But first there was Tank Wars. It's ruled as well but had less weapons. The graphics were larger so the tanks and stuff were easier to see. Twas many good times.
