Fun game giving me major headaches.. (help please)

Recommended Posts

I have talked about this here before so I appologize if this is annoying.

I have this 7800 Basketbrawl cart that I bought a few years ago that gives me problems. It crashes almost immediately on two of the four 7800's I own and it crashes mid-game on the other two. I managed to open the cart to see if there are any manufacturing defects and it appears as though everything is fine for the most part. One pin is not soldered in right (bent over instead of in the hole) but still connects with the PCB where it is supposed to. One brown circular shaped resistor looks like it is chipped a bit but I am not sure if this is a big deal.

I want this cart to work properly. I am wondering if I should pull the ROM chip out and put it into a new PCB or if I should repair the seemingly minor manufacturing defects on the original PCB. Can someone give me some tips on how to get this cart to work 100% flawlessly? :)

I am not sure what you mean. Would you mind explaining what you mean (?) and then I will check and get back to you.

I had the same problem with Kung Fu Master. Your just going to have to find a 7800 it works on thats it. As it was explained to me, all 7800s are odd. In fact not all 7800 or 2600 carts will work on some consoles. Why is this, who knows. But that is the nature of a console where most of us believe that Atari never did any quality control.

I seem to remember reading some where that the 7800 was contantly being rewired to handle the newest games that were being released. If that's the case, I guess I would be looking for one of the last batches of 7800's. It does seem to occur more on the older dated serial numbers. I have also heard of this problem occuring with other carts like Mean 18.

Though, I still need to know about this jumper thing so hopefully Mitch will soon explain what he is talking about.

Is there a part number on the board? It should start with the letter "C". Ex: C100339.

OK, that board doesn't have jumpers. :)

Try repairing that bent pin and see if that helps.
