I don't know about all that Yahoo nonsense, but I'm going to cast my vote right here.

I am interesting in your game, atari70's. I would have no real way to play it unless I can run it on my PC, but I am interested in the game nonetheless.

600+ atariage.com members and only 3 people answer my poll comeon people work with me cause i need this info to know if i should continue my project or not. (it will be rather simple andmaybe ill lower prices since it is a quick game if you play though and maybe longer if you try the other version of it. but i will do a high score page and never know, i might try somethign else

But please answer ONLY YOU CAN MOTIVATE ME TO CONTINUE TO MAKE THIS GAME A REAL THING

I think you should continue the game if you're having fun with the project. If you're not having fun with it, or don't have the time, don't do it.

If you do it simply for the money, then I think it's a horrible idea to continue. You can make a whole lot more money per hour by cutting lawns, shoveling driveways in the winter (if you live somewhere cold) or getting a paper route. Nobody ever got rich by producing games for 20+ year old video game systems.

I personally think you should continue making your game.. you'll learn a lot from the programming of it, and the feeling you get from completing a project is a feeling that can't be beat.

If you insist on doing it for the money, I think you could help yourself out greatly if you concentrate on sending out professional looking messages.. namely ones with correct spelling and punctuation. It will go a long way in improving your reputation, and people will feel a lot more comfortable handing their hard earned money over to you.

I do do this for the fun cause i am a big atari fan and i can never get enough. but i also know even with collectors if you make somethign and then charge wahtever youwant people buy it and think this is trash. when it comes time to do a part 2 noone will be interested. i might be wrong but i have seen it with people who programmed in QBASIC . and did Disks. But i do love doing this it brings back memories building a QBASIC game.

Even the best of us need motivation to do this.

i know there are many other ways to make money. but if it isnt fun to your job why bother doing it. and if i get to make a game for somethign i love share my programming with people who love atari as much as i do. To be honest money is at the bottom of the list. but i just know what ever i do get i want it to go towards a car for me and i dont want people to pay a price get it and hate the game and if i go do a MAD ATARIAN 2 have noone out to support it cause they wasted time and money into a game they found they didnt like. thats all. plus the programming came rather fast here so thats another reason i thought the price thing over. but i really am doing this for fun . any monitary items recieved is bonus ( after all supplies and such)

You gotta do it for the love of it first, and the money last. That's the only way to go. I say finish the project for yourself, and if some people like it then BONUS. The experience you will gain will make your next project all the better. Don't get discouraged if nobody is breaking down the door to get a copy of your game. This is your FIRST attempt at this. No one really knows what you are capable of at this point. You can toot your horn as loud as you want, but until people can see your game in motion and experience it, the interest isn't going to just "be" there. You do very well to create a buzz for your game, but right now you haven't a product to back it up. I think everyone here is in your corner, hoping that you do produce and excellent game, that is after all why we are all here, to play cool games and keep the hobby alive.

The game I am working on is mostly just for me. If it ever gets finished (or re-started for that matter, I've been busy with work) I'll drop the ROM to Atariage so people can try it, but mostly its just for me to see if I can do this and do it to my satisfaction.

As I keep telling you, you're doing good work, keep it up. If you build it, they will come.

Well I'd take your poll but the same thing happens to me when I click the link:

quote
NE146  That link shows nothing but a "Welcome to Yahoo! Groups" page...

And yes I'm already signed into Yahoo. Still no go.

Malix, I do's me best.

Hey, 70's. Why not just start a new post as a poll. And the count the number of yea and nay posts in response? The people here at Atariage are probably the ones you are most likely targeting. Right? It would be easy for everyone to see and easy to vote.
