moycon #2 Posted November 2, 2001 It would be really interesting to see what would happen if a hand held 2600 that took the orginal carts was mass produced. I realize there is a hand held 2600 out there...But I think the cost would have to be under $50 to get it in the hands of enough people to see a difference. By that I mean...Would more people start developing 2600 games as a profitable venture. Even to the point of starting up a company that just produced 2600 games? And would they, like we've talked about here before, make games based on what was popular at the time? (Crazy Taxi, Turok, Resident Evil) Would the prices of 2600 games go up on the secondary market? Its a nice thought...I'd doubt it would ever happen tho. Too bad.
liveinabin #3 Posted November 2, 2001 I honestly don't know how well it'd go down. It seems most misguided people (and an alarming proportion of the gaming press) regard the SNES/ genesis years as the big Retro period. VCS is all but forgotten (even though all those PS2 owners are STILL just playing tarted up Pole Position - and N64 owners never stopped buying Pitfalls)
