Tonight I Scored 925,100 on Donkey Kong Jr.

Recommended Posts

:D

That is my highest score in over 20 years of playing the game and is good for 5th all time according to Twin Galaxies.

The current record is 1,004,000 so I am just 79,000 points away and I do have some good ideas on how to improve my score. If I manage to break a million on Mame, I'm gonna try and find the game in an arcade and go for the record.

I am attaching a recording of tonight's effort. I used Mame32 .87 for this recording. If you want to watch that long, look for an amazing escape on the first board of Level 16. :P

I used an Atari 2600 controller called the Slik Stik. (Obviously not the same thing as the gargantuan arcade style controller that costs hundreds of dollars.) I'm still using the PC Competitior Interface I bought a couple years back that allows me to use Atari joysticks for Mame.

I do have the Stelladaptor as well, but I only use that to play 2600 games on my computer.

Sorry, but what program do I need to run this file?

Mame32 :P

put it in your /inp folder. Then I think there's an option within the file menu to 'playback recording' or something similar. You can't miss it. Just do that then highlight the .inp and off you go! Just note however that you most likely need the exact mame version he used. .inp's don't tend to travel well between versions. ..

Well, I assumed it could be MAME 32, but I had never seen that option. Sorry for being such a dope, but it's my day off and I just woke up. There's my excuse. I'm interested in checking this out. I've always been terrible when it comes to Donkey Kong Jr., so I'm looking for some tips!
