BIN question ???

Recommended Posts

Stupid me accidetally hit the BIN button instead of the BID button and EBAY did not ask me to verify my choice. After I saw the BIN page come up telling me to pay I was pissed. I emailed the seller asking him if it was possible to undo. Is it possible to undo a BIN?

I can't beleive I hit the wrong damn button.

Hopefully the seller will let it slide because there is no way to undo a BIN. I just hope you didn't spend too much.

As far as I am aware no, its final, I am sure it has happened to all of us at some point, me included.

It asks to verify what you are doing first, but so does placing a bid. That's one aspect of Ebay I'd like to see overhauled. :|

Yeah, that's what screwed me up, stupid me did not read it carefully. I'm more mad at myself than anything.

The BIN was only $10 for an Atari 800 Miner 2049er and $5 shipping, so it's not that I'm out alot of $. I just did not want to pay that much for it.

I'll probably just pay and not try to get out of it since I try to be as honest as I can when I buy or sell. I would not like someone to back out on me, so why should I back out on them. But I'm going to wait and see what the seller says.

That's easy to fix. Just retract your bid to re-instate the BIN...

The reply I got from the seller was that he does not know how to cancel the transaction, so here is your bill. What an ass. And I'm an ass for being so stupid.

What's the difference between Buyer's Remorse & accidently winning an auction on ebay... From a seller's standpoint?

very little.

Seller has no way of knowing what your intent was, maybe you are truthful, and bought by mistake, or perhaps you did want it, only to change your mind afterwards. Only you know that.

To the seller, it sounds like a weak excuse, and over something so little, not even a bad price, I would not even bother to ask. After the seller has spent time & energy posting auction, and money, & now needs to relist, becuase the buyer didn't mean to bid. Thing is the listing fee is so small that if you paypaled the fee, it would be lost in the paypal transaction, so you'd need to paypal at least a $1 or so to be worth it, but the seller can enter in a mutual agreement to not complete the transaction if they wanted to, but it's more trouble, & relists than they would rather the buyer just pay up.

I don't think that option was available back then. This was the first weeks of when they started the whole BIN process. But than again.. maybe it was :?

There are some people who place a bid on an auction with a buy it now to "buy" themselves some time to think about the buy it now. There are a few people on eBay who I know of who do this and then retract the and use the buy it now if they decide it was a good buy it now.

$10 for Miner is not a bad deal. It isn't the sellers fault that you clicked on the BIN. Just pay it and move on.

Are you kidding me? $10 is a good deal for that game. I paid $20 for my copy and it included a manual so $10 plus $5 shipping is still quite low.

I know I sold a couple copies each time for around $10-12 bucks, it will go that high without a BIN often. It's just such a small amount, even if the buyer may only feel the cart is worth $6-8 vs $10, why make a fuss over such a small amount.

I once clicked a BIN on an N64 game sometime probaby like 2 in the morning, it was 5 minutes to closing of auction, no bids, opening price was around $9.99 with a $20 BIN, I accidently hit the BIN when I was trying to bid on it, D'oh! it was a mistake, I just went ahead through the checkout & sent money, so it cost me double what it should have, it was I who screwed up. But even still it was not so bad, so it cost me $10 extra dollars, I took it as a learning experience. I've never done it since. :)

Oh and to these people bidding to kill BIN's only to retract later, there's nothing stoping anyone else from outbidding them once they've killed the bin, they will not have the option of bringing it back. As your bid would still meet reserve price.
