Kroko #1 Posted October 2, 2004 I am still working on the Krokodile Cartridge, and I think it is time for a little update now. I have changed a few things compared to the first design. One difference is, that it doesn't need an external power supply, when it is plugged into the 2600. In addition, it can now also be used as a Multicart. There are 4 different Multicart modes: Mode 1: 1K 2K or 4K (up to 127 Games) Mode 2: F8 Bankswitched (up to 63 Games) Mode 3: F6 Bankswitched (up to 31 Games) Mode 4: F4 Bankswitched (up to 15 games) It is possible to create custom MultiCart ROM-Images and download them to the device. The games can be selected with a menusystem that is part of the MultiCart image. And of course it supports standalone games. The downloading is done with a serial cable. Here is a summary of the current features: * 1K / 2K / 4K / Non Bankswitched Multicart (127 Games) * F8 / F8SC / F8 Multicart (63 Games) * F6 / F6SC / F6 Multicart (31 Games) * F4 / F4SC / F4 Multicart (15 Games) * 3F (up to 512K Rom) * 3E (up to 512K Rom and 32K Ram) * EF (Homestar) * FA * CV If we don't find lots of bugs during testing, I hope I can release it soon

Andrew Davie #3 Posted October 3, 2004 I am still working on the Krokodile Cartridge, and I think it is time for a little update now. I love my prototype Krokodile Cartridge! Just thought I'd voice my confidence in this product; it's the only thing I use for programming '2600 these days. Very well made, and totally reliable. Make sure you get one! Cheers A
Radio F Software #4 Posted October 3, 2004 That looks like one heavy monster of a cartridge man.
Andrew Davie #5 Posted October 3, 2004 That looks like one heavy monster of a cartridge man. It's exactly the same size as a normal '2600 cart, and only slightly heavier. Not too big, nor too heavy... in fact, just right.
Blackjack #6 Posted October 3, 2004 This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life (since I never bought a cuttle cart). I hope you'll take paypal

Albert #9 Posted October 3, 2004 I just received my prototype Krokodile Cartridge in the mail two days ago and I very much look forward to putting it through its paces! It is quite heavy for a 2600 cartridge. ..Al
Zach #10 Posted October 5, 2004 Support for the SARA chip? Either way, I'm going to make sure I don't miss out on this like I did with the Cuttle Carts.
Kroko #11 Posted October 5, 2004 Support for the SARA chip? In Superchip Mode you can use 128 Bytes of RAM (F8,F6 and F4) In FA Mode you have 256 Byte, in CV Mode you have 1 K and finally in 3E Mode you can use 32K RAM.
Blackjack #12 Posted October 5, 2004 I don't know Jack about Modes and SARA, F8,3F,CV, eieio or any of it. Would anyone care to give a quick tutorial?
Thomas Jentzsch #13 Posted October 5, 2004 I don't know Jack about Modes and SARA, F8,3F,CV, eieio or any of it. Would anyone care to give a quick tutorial? He talks about various bankswitching modes and additional RAM which was used on several carts. Without supporting these, you cannot play those games. There is a quite complete document which lists those games.
Zach #14 Posted October 5, 2004 By the way, SARA is another name for what that document calls the Super Chip.
Blackjack #15 Posted October 5, 2004 Yes that's quite the informative paper you got there.... whew! So all the bankswitching stuff doesn't mean anything to me (the uneducated end user) other than it supports the games... got it! Go Kroko! I'm gonna get me one for Xmas! SS #25 Posted October 8, 2004 The price is highly dependent on how many people are interested to get one, but I think it will be in the 99 Dollar region Even though I already own a "Cuttle Cart 2", I'd probably be interested in getting one of these as well. It would be swell to see them housed in some fancy colored cartridges too (green ???).
