Mindfield #2 Posted October 3, 2004 1-day listing. Obviously hoping to get it in under eBay's reaction time.
Brad2600 #3 Posted October 3, 2004 I just reported him to EBay. People should know that you can download ROMs. Selling them is a whole other story. It's wrong.
Blackjack #4 Posted October 3, 2004 I'm still kinda "on the fence" with these issues. I've been using Mame for years and I did buy a complete set at one point just to be sure I had everything. One thing I'm sure of though, if you profit from Mame.... you should donate some of the proceeds back into the Mame project dumping fund.
Mindfield #5 Posted October 3, 2004 The only time I ever considered it "okay" to buy a MAME set was back when the Tombstones would burn you sets for the cost of the CDs and shipping. But they weren't out to profit, they just wanted to spread the love, as it were. This auction is obviously an attempt to cash in. People like that ought to be kicked off eBay promptly. That's where I got mine I still have to call it "buying a set" though, but they weren't out for profit.... true.

That's where I got mine I still have to call it "buying a set" though, but they weren't out for profit.... true. That's why a lot of the original Tombstone members promoted media swapping only: If you wanted a set you'd sent a blank media set to the burner incl. a stamped envelope addressed to yourself... The burner burnt it for free and returned it. By the way the service is still alive @ http://www.freemameroms.com/
Stingray #12 Posted October 4, 2004 Yes it is. I got a set through them last year. Yeah I know that you can download them, but that just takes forever if you want a "complete" set. -S
Mindfield #13 Posted October 5, 2004 Cool! Glad to see the Tombstoners still burning... I haven't visited alt.binaries.roms.arcade in a good long time, so I really haven't been keeping up. I've been meaning to update my MAME set though. My set is only complete up to 0.59.
Blackjack #14 Posted October 5, 2004 The Mame sets are HUGE now. The CHD files alone take up like 4 dvd's. I think it's definately worth having someone burn for you.
