Creekree #1 Posted October 6, 2004 hi y'all, http://home.t-online.de/home/Matthias.Domi...in/tosonjag.htm has a chart of how to connect a vga monitor to the jag. does someone know if this is "natively" supported by the jag or are special video drivers in the application necessary? (in this case, it´s TOS on the jag). the "official gamers guide" states on page 232 (middle of the second row, in the interview with john mathieson) "[...] jaguar would make a very nice computer system. it can drive a VGA monitor with the right software, [...]".... has anyone ever tried to just connect a vga monitor and find out what happens? Matthias #2 Posted October 7, 2004 Hello! The Jaguar-console is intended to be used with TV-sets, so all Jaguar games (and the Boot-PROM-programs) initialize the chipset to output TV-set compatible videosignals. AFAIK the only help they get from the console-hardware is to check the so called "PAL/NTSC"-switch (setting of R140 on the mainboard), they check for the switch-value and then output either 50Hz or 60Hz TV-set (or RGB-monitor) compatible videosignals. But any software can ignore this and initialize the chipset to whatever it likes and so does the TOSOnJag-software. The original TOSOnJag was intended to output a 640*480 non-interlaced pixelscreen (for the hires-desktop of the ST-operatingsystem), this can't be output to a TV-set, but a VGA-monitor.
